Czech Republic National Bandy Team
Czech Republic national bandy team is competing for the Czech Republic in the international bandy and rink bandy tournaments. It is run by the Czech Association of Bandy. History Bohemia, then a part of Austria-Hungary, was in its own right an early member of the Ligue International de Hockey sur Glace, which administrated ice hockey and bandy in the years before the First World War. Austria-Hungary national bandy team participated in the 1913 European Bandy Championships. The Czech Association of Bandy was founded in 2013 and became a member of the Federation of International Bandy in 2014. On 6 January 2014 the Czech Republic participated in a four nation tournament in Davos, a centenary celebration of the European Championship of 1913. The other teams were the Netherlands, Hungary, and Germany. 19 September 2015 the team took part in a rink bandy tournament in Nymburk. 2016 Bandy World Championship
Bandy World Championship 2016, the XXXVI Bandy World Championship, was held with Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia, as host region. Most of the games was played at the Volga-Sport-Arena in Ulyanovsk. Because of its higher spectator capacity, the group stage matches between Russia and Sweden and between Russia and Kazakhstan were played at Trud Stadium, which also hosted one semi-final and the final. Some games were played in nearby Dimitrovgrad at Stadium Stroitel. The Division A tournament was played from 1 February until 7 February 2016, while the Division B tournament took place afterwards, on 10–14 February. The Bandy World Championship is a competition between bandy-playing nations' men's teams. The tournament is administrated by the Federation of International Bandy. It is distinct from the Bandy World Cup, a club competition, and from the Women's Bandy World Championship. A Youth Bandy World Championship also exists separately from the senior competition and has competitions in both the male and female categories. The 2020 Bandy World Championship for Division A was scheduled to be played in Irkutsk, Russia in 2020 but was postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nymburk (; german: Nimburg, Neuenburg an der Elbe) is a town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 15,000 inhabitants. It is situated on the Elbe River. Germany national bandy team (german: Deutsche Bandynationalmannschaft der Herren) is a bandy team competing for Germany in the international bandy and rink bandy tournaments. The German Empire national bandy team participated the 1913 European Bandy Championships in Davos. After a long time with no organised bandy in Germany, the German Bandy Federation (Deutscher Bandy-Bund) was established in June 2013 and the new national bandy team was formed in September 2013. In January 2014 the German team participated in the four nation bandy tournament in Davos, Switzerland, a centenary celebration of the 1913 European Championship. Hungary national bandy team is competing for Hungary in the international bandy tournaments. History Austria-Hungary national bandy team participated in the 1913 European Bandy Championships but it is uncertain if there were any Hungarian players. Hungary national bandy team made its international debut in the Rossiya Tournament 1990 in Novosibirsk, Soviet Union. Hungary made its world championship debut in 1991, but the team has so far not reached any medals. The Dutch national bandy team represents the Netherlands in the sport of bandy. The team made its international championship debut at the 1913 European Bandy Championships in Davos, Switzerland. However, the Netherlands did not compete in the Bandy World Championship before the 1990s, even if bandy actually has been played more or less regularly in the Netherlands since the early 20th Century. The Netherlands participated in their first World Championship tournament in 1991 and has been attending the tournaments regularly since the 2003 championship. Bandy
Bandy is a winter sport and ball sport played by two teams wearing ice skates on a large ice surface (either indoors or outdoors) while using sticks to direct a ball into the opposing team's goal. The international governing body for bandy is the Federation of International Bandy (FIB). The playing surface, called a bandy field or bandy rink, is a sheet of ice which measures 90–110 meters by 45–65 meters – about the size of a football pitch.
