Czech Republic
The Czech Republic, or simply Czechia, is a landlocked country in Central Europe. The Ford Escort RS Cosworth is a rally version homologation special of the fifth generation European Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship, in which it competed between 1993 and 1998. It was available as a road car from 1992 until 1996 in very limited numbers. Barum (company)
Continental Barum (formerly just Barum) is a manufacturer of rubber tyres based in the Czech Republic under the Barum brand. History The Barum tyre company was created as a subsidiary of Bata Shoes who made rubber soled boots in Czechoslovakia. The high cost of rail transport prompted the Bata company to operate its own fleet of vehicles to transport goods by road and in 1934, to counteract the high costs involved in importing tyres for its fleet of vehicles, the company decided to produce tyres for its own use. In 1945 the three major rubber-producing companies in Czechoslovakia were merged — Bata in Zlín, Rubena in Náchod (Kudrnáč pre-1945) and Mitas (Michelin + Veritas) in Prague-Strašnice and post-war in Hrádek nad Nisou, being originally a subsidiary of Michelin. The Ford Focus RS WRC is a car built for the Ford World Rally Team by Ford Europe and M-Sport and based on the Ford Focus Climate 2-litre production hatchback, developed to compete in the World Rally Championship. The RS stands for ''Rallye Sport'' and the WRC for ''World Rally Car'', the car's FIA specification. The Focus RS WRC was in competition from 1999 to 2010, winning 44 world rallies and two manufacturers' world titles (2006 and 2007). It was replaced by the Ford Fiesta RS WRC. Pavel Valoušek
Pavel Valoušek (born 19 April 1979) is a Czech professional rally driver who currently competes in the Czech Rally Championship with Škoda Fabia S2000 in factory supported team. Career Valoušek was racing with Suzuki Ignis S1600 in 2005 JWRC and scored 10 points overally finishing 11th, his best result this year was 4th place in JWRC standings at Rally Mexico. He continued racing in JWRC during 2006 season. He managed to get on JWRC podium this year with 3rd place at Rallye Deutschland. Valoušek scored 11 points this year and 15th place in JWRC standings. Valoušek returned to Czech Rally Championship since 2007. He was racing with Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX. In 2008 was chosen by Czech journalists to join BF Goodrich Drivers Team for Barum Rally Zlín, 6th round of IRC 2008. Roman Kresta
Roman Kresta (born 24 April 1976 in the Czech Republic), is a Czech professional rally driver. In 2005, he drove for Ford in the World Rally Championship. His co-driver was Jan Tománek. The pair won the Czech national rally championship in 2000, prior to their début in the WRC. Kresta's first World Rally was the 2001 Acropolis Rally, driving a Ford Focus WRC. He has also driven for the works Skoda team, and as a privateer with Hyundai and Peugeot. His performances in his sole season with the works Ford World Rally Team in 2005 were not enough to prevent him from losing his seat to Mikko Hirvonen at the end of the season. However, he scored points in 11 of the 16 rallies held that season, achieving two fifth places in Corsica and Spain.
