Cupa României (Rugby)
The Cupa României ( en, Romanian Cup) is a football cup competition for Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1933–34, except during World War II. It is the country's main cup competition, being open to all clubs affiliated with the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and the county football associations regardless of the league they belong to. Currently, the winner of the competition is granted a place in the UEFA Europa League qualifiers and plays the Supercupa României. Most finals have been held at the Stadionul Național (formerly known as "23 August"), and occasionally at other stadiums in Bucharest. During the construction of the new Stadionul Național, the final was staged each year in a different major city of the country. 2022–23 Cupa României
The 2022–23 Cupa României is the 85th season of the annual Romanian primary football knockout tournament. The winner will qualify for the second qualifying round of the 2023–24 UEFA Europa Conference League. It is the first season in which the Round of 16 was replaced by a play-off, immediately followed by a group stage, in which the best 8 teams from Liga 1 will also enter directly. In this round, the 24 teams remaining in the competition will be divided into 4 groups of 6, two each from value boxes 1, 2 and 3. The Romanian Cup will end with the "quarters", semi-finals and final stages, all contested in one leg. Group stage The draw was held on 30 September 2022. 1933–34 Cupa României
The 1933–34 Cupa României was the inaugural season of the Romania's most prestigious football (soccer) cup competition. In order to promote the competition and encourage clubs to register to the cup, no taxes were enforced on the participants. From the sixty-eight teams registered for the competition, fifty-two were not competing in the top-flight. The competition started in the autumn of 1933. The first phases involved only teams coming from district leagues. The draws were made taking in account logistic difficulties, and sixteen of these clubs advanced to the first round proper, where they were joined by the sixteen teams from Diviza A. The results of the preliminary phase were not recorded. The first winners were Ripensia Timișoara, who defeated Universitatea Cluj in the final. Fotbal Club Rapid 1923, commonly known as Rapid București () or simply as Rapid, is a Romanian professional football club based in Bucharest, which competes in the Liga I. Târgu Jiu () is the capital of Gorj County in the Oltenia region of Romania. It is situated on the Southern Sub-Carpathians, on the banks of the river Jiu. Stadionul Dan Păltinișanu
Dan Păltinișanu Stadium ( ro, Stadionul Dan Păltinișanu) was a multi-purpose stadium in Timișoara, Romania. It was the second-largest stadium in Romania, with a seating capacity of 32,972. Until its closure in 2022, it was used mostly for football matches by the local team, SSU Politehnica Timișoara. The stadium was named after footballer Dan Păltinișanu (1951–1995) who played 10 seasons at FC Politehnica Timișoara. It opened in 2011 on the site of the Stadionul Național (1953), original National Stadium, which was demolished between 2007 and 2008.
