Mel Croucher
Mel Croucher is a British entrepreneur and video games pioneer. Originally an architect, he moved into computers and in 1977 launched one of the very earliest games companies, Automata UK, as an extension of his publishing business. He is now credited for setting up "the first games company in the U.K.", celebrated as "the father of the British videogames industry" and presented as "a pioneer in affective computing". His first broadcasts of computer game software were made over AM and FM radio. After the release of the Sinclair ZX81, his label published several games for the early home computer market, including three Computer Trade Association award-winners: ''Pimania'' (1982), ''Groucho'' (1983, a.k.a. Norman Croucher
Norman Croucher (born 1941) is a British mountain climber, a double amputee with two prosthetic legs below the knee. Early life Born in 1941, Croucher grew up at Mount Pleasant Farm at Carnkie, Redruth, and was educated at Redruth Grammar School. In 1960, at the age of 19, both of Croucher's legs were severed below the knee by a train after he collapsed in a drunken stupor and fell down an embankment onto a railway line in Wiltshire. He subsequently trained to be a teacher but was still determined to pursue his love of mountaineering in spite of his disability. He became the first person fitted with artificial limbs to walk the 900 miles from John O'Groats to Lands End in 1969 which he claimed also hardened his stumps for subsequent mountain climbing. Charles Croucher is an Australian journalist. He is currently the Nine Network's chief political editor, a position he was appointed to in October 2022. Early life and career He grew up in Branxton, New South Wales. He attended Hunter Valley Grammar School, graduating in 2005. He studied a Bachelor of Sport Studies/Bachelor of Communication (Journalism) double degree at Charles Sturt University, where he graduated in 2009. While he was at university, he found employment with Bathurst radio stations 2BS and B-Rock where he worked as a news presenter, before becoming the host of a weekend breakfast show and then the presenter of the weekday morning program. Brian Croucher (born 23 January 1942) is an English actor and director best known for his role as Ted Hills, which he played from 1995 to 1997, in the soap opera '' EastEnders''. Croucher also had a regular role in the science fiction series ''Blake's 7''.
