CrossFit Games
The CrossFit Games is an annual athletic competition owned and operated by CrossFit, LLC. Athletes compete in a series of events at the Games, which may be various standard CrossFit workouts consisting of metabolic conditioning exercises, weightlifting, and gymnastics movements, as well as a range of activities from other sports such as swimming and cycling. The events generally are not revealed before the Games, can include unexpected elements to challenge the athletes' readiness to compete, and they are designed to test the athletes' fitness using CrossFit's own criteria. Winners of the CrossFit Games earn cash prizes and the title of "Fittest on Earth." The competition started in 2007 and has been held every year since, normally in the summer. 2007 CrossFit Games
The 2007 CrossFit Games were the inaugural CrossFit Games, which were held on June 30 and July 1, 2007, on a ranch in Aromas, California. There was no qualification process for the first Games, and around 70 athletes turned up to participate in the Games, along with around 150 spectators. There were three events, the first one selected at random on the day. The men's individual competition was won by James Fitzgerald, the women's individual by Jolie Gentry. The Affiliate Cup was awarded to CrossFit Santa Cruz for the best combined team members' individual scores. From its inception, the CrossFit Games have awarded an equal sum in prize money to both the male and female winners of the individual competitions, which in the first year was $500. 2010 CrossFit Games
The 2010 CrossFit Games were the fourth CrossFit Games, held on July 16–18, 2010. This year's Games were the first to be staged at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California after three years at the ranch in Aromas. The men's competition was won by Graham Holmberg, the women's by Kristan Clever, and the Team by CrossFit Fort Vancouver. This year the qualification was expanded to a two-stage process with the introduction of Sectionals, a precursor to the online CrossFit Open introduced the following year. Individual athletes had to compete in local Sectionals to qualify for the Regionals. This was also the first time that regional qualifiers were required for all games participants including individuals, affiliate teams, and masters. Parasports are sports played by people with a disability, including physical and intellectual disabilities. 2022 CrossFit Games
The 2022 CrossFit Games is the 16th iteration of the annual competition in the sport of CrossFit held from August 3 to August 7, 2022, in Madison, Wisconsin. Both Justin Medeiros and Tia-Clair Toomey repeated their 2021 win in their respective men's and women's competitions, while CrossFit Mayhem Freedom won the team competition. The qualification process for the 2022 CrossFit Games was similar to the one used in 2021, starting with the Open, followed by the quarterfinals, the semifinals, and a last-chance qualifier. 2020 CrossFit Games
The 2020 CrossFit Games was the 14th CrossFit Games held on October 23–25, 2020, at the CrossFit Ranch in Aromas, California, United States. Mathew Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey were again the respective winners of this year's men and women competitions The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced major changes to the Games season, including the postponement and relocation of the Games. The format was altered, and only 30 men and 30 women were invited to compete in an online-only first stage with the top five men and women qualifying for the final stage to compete in person. There were no teams, masters, or teens events. The Games returned to live broadcast on CBS Sports after the 2019 Games when only online streaming was available.
