2020 CrossFit Games
The 2020 CrossFit Games was the 14th CrossFit Games held on October 23–25, 2020, at the CrossFit Ranch in Aromas, California, United States. Mathew Fraser and Tia-Clair Toomey were again the respective winners of this year's men and women competitions The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 forced major changes to the Games season, including the postponement and relocation of the Games. The format was altered, and only 30 men and 30 women were invited to compete in an online-only first stage with the top five men and women qualifying for the final stage to compete in person. There were no teams, masters, or teens events. The Games returned to live broadcast on CBS Sports after the 2019 Games when only online streaming was available. This year both Fraser and Toomey produced the most dominant performances the Games have ever seen: Fraser won 10 of the 12 events in the last stage of the competition, while Toomey won 9. Aromas, California
Aromas (Spanish for "Perfumes") is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Monterey County and San Benito County, California, United States. The population was 2,708 at the 2020 census. The CDP straddles the border of the two counties, with Monterey County to the west and San Benito County to the east. The Santa Cruz County line is less than a mile to the northwest, and Santa Clara County is about to the north. Its population was almost equally distributed between the two counties with 1,358 in Monterey County and 1,292 in San Benito County; this was down from a population of 2,797 during the 2000 census (1,427 in Monterey County and 1,370 in San Benito County). Hand walking is an unusual form of human locomotion in which a person travels in a vertically inverted orientation with all body weight resting on the hands. It can be executed with legs fully extended or with variations such as stag, straddle or front splits. It is mainly used to develop the anterior deltoid muscles of the shoulder. 2007 CrossFit Games
The 2007 CrossFit Games were the inaugural CrossFit Games, which were held on June 30 and July 1, 2007, on a ranch in Aromas, California. There was no qualification process for the first Games, and around 70 athletes turned up to participate in the Games, along with around 150 spectators. There were three events, the first one selected at random on the day. The men's individual competition was won by James Fitzgerald, the women's individual by Jolie Gentry. The Affiliate Cup was awarded to CrossFit Santa Cruz for the best combined team members' individual scores. From its inception, the CrossFit Games have awarded an equal sum in prize money to both the male and female winners of the individual competitions, which in the first year was $500. Muscle-up
The muscle-up (also known as a muscleup) is an advanced strength training exercise, within the domain of calisthenics. It is a combination routine of a radial pull-up followed by a dip. Variations exist for the rings as well as the bar. Form The muscle-up begins with the arms extended above the head, gripping a hold in the overhand pull-up position. The hold is usually on a chin-up bar or gymnastic rings. The body is then explosively pulled up by the arms in a radial pull-up, with greater speed than a regular pull-up. When the bar approaches the upper chest, the wrists are swiftly flexed to bring the forearms above the bar. The body is leaned forward, and the elbows are straightened by activating the triceps. The clean and jerk is a composite of two weightlifting movements, most often performed with a barbell: the clean and the jerk.
