Croats In Argentina
Croatian Argentines are Argentine citizens of Croatian descent or Croatian-born people who reside in Argentina. Croats and their descendants settled in Buenos Aires, the homonymous province, Santa Fe, Córdoba, Chaco, and Patagonia. Argentines of Croatian descent number over 250,000. History At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries there were 133 settlements, with some 120,000 Croats in Argentina, for the most part hailing from the coastal regions of Dalmatia and the Croatian Littoral, who were among the first European immigrants to settle in the Argentine pampas. The pioneers from the island of Hvar were followed by emigrants from other parts of Dalmatia and the other historic Croatian lands, mostly present-day Croatia. Buenos Aires Province
Buenos Aires (), officially the Buenos Aires Province (''Provincia de Buenos Aires'' ), is the largest and most populous Argentine province. It takes its name from the city of Buenos Aires, the capital of the country, which used to be part of the province and the province's capital until it was federalized in 1880. Since then, in spite of bearing the same name, the province does not include Buenos Aires proper, though it does include all other parts of the Greater Buenos Aires metropolitan area. The capital of the province is the city of La Plata, founded in 1882. Dalmatia
Dalmatia (; hr, Dalmacija ; it, Dalmazia; see names in other languages) is one of the four historical regions of Croatia, alongside Croatia proper, Slavonia, and Istria. Dalmatia is a narrow belt of the east shore of the Adriatic Sea, stretching from the island of Rab in the north to the Bay of Kotor in the south. The Dalmatian Hinterland ranges in width from fifty kilometres in the north, to just a few kilometres in the south; it is mostly covered by the rugged Dinaric Alps. Daniel Orsanic
Daniel Orsanic (, ; born 11 June 1968) is a former professional tennis player from Argentina. He was captain of the Argentina Davis Cup team that won the country's first title in 2016. Playing career Orsanic was a left-hander with a double handed backhand. He was primarily a doubles specialist with his best tournament results in singles reaching three quarterfinals in 1993 at Buenos Aires and twice in 1994 at Birmingham, Alabama and Båstad. In doubles Orsanic won eight titles and was a finalist on seven occasions all of these performances were on clay. 1998 was his most successful year with two titles at Majorca and Kitzbühel and a finalist in Palermo, Mexico City, and Gstaad. Daniel Bilos
Daniel Rubén Biloš (born 3 September 1980) is an Argentine former professional footballer who played for clubs in Argentina, France and Mexico. He made three appearances scoring one goal for the Argentina national team. Club career Born in Pergamino, Buenos Aires Province, Bilos started his career at lower league team Sportivo Pergamino in 1999, but was soon picked up by Banfield. He played for them for four years, including the 2005 Copa Libertadores before making the move to Argentine club Boca Juniors in July 2005. Mateo Bajamich ( hr, Bajamić, ; born 3 August 1999) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a winger for Primera Nacional side Estudiantes de Río Cuarto. He can also play as a striker. Career Instituto Bajamich's career started with Instituto Atlético Central Córdoba, joining in 2016 from his local club Unión de Morrison. Alicia Margarita Kirchner (born 18 July 1946) is an Argentine politician. She is the elder sister of the late former President Néstor Kirchner and served in his government as Minister of Social Development, a role which she held under President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, her sister-in-law, until the end of her presidential term on 9 December 2015. Nicolás Mihanovich
Nicolás Mihanovich (1846–1929) was a Croatian Argentine businessman closely linked to the development of the Argentine merchant marine. Life and times The Beginnings Nicolás Mihanovich was born Nikola Mihanović in the Kingdom of Dalmatia, Austrian Empire, in what is today Croatia, in 1846. Self-educated, he arrived in Buenos Aires in 1868 and formed a partnership with two of his countrymen: Gerónimo Zuanich and Octavio Cosulich. Operating five steam ships by 1879, the group initiated scheduled transports from Buenos Aires to the then-remote outposts of Bahía Blanca and Carmen de Patagones.
