Coven, Staffordshire
Coven is a village in the district of South Staffordshire, England, near to the border with Wolverhampton. Together with Brewood it forms part of the parish of Brewood & Coven. Etymology Coven derives from the Anglo-Saxon ''cofum'', the dative plural of ''cofa'', which means either 'a cove' or 'a hut'. History The first record of Coven (as ''Cove'') is in the Domesday Book (1086); when it was listed as being held by William de Stafford. Prior to the Norman Conquest it was held by the Saxon ceorl Alric. Iron-making was carried on at a furnace and two forges near to the village from the seventeenth century or earlier. 'The Homage' (circa 1679) is said to be the oldest brick-built house in Staffordshire. During the nineteenth century, John Smith operated a foundry in the village, where he produced stationary steam engines and locomotives. St Paul's Church, Coven was opened in 1857. St Paul's Church, Coven
St Paul's Church, Coven is a Grade II listed parish church in the Church of England in Coven, Staffordshire History The church was built in 1857 by architect Edward Banks. It was built in the Early English style, and consists of a nave by , two transepts by , a chancel by . It had a gallery with total seating capacity of 396. The contractor was built by Godfrey of Birmingham. It was consecrated by the Bishop of Lichfield on 5 February 1857. The churchyard contains two war graves of British Army soldiers of World War II.

The A449 is a major road in the United Kingdom. It runs north from junction 24 of the M4 motorway at Newport in South Wales to Stafford in Staffordshire. Brewood and Coven is a civil parish in the district of South Staffordshire, Staffordshire, England. It contains 137 listed buildings that are recorded in the National Heritage List for England. Codsall Railway Station
Codsall railway station is a railway station which serves the large village of Codsall in Staffordshire, England. History The original listed GWR footbridge, between the two platforms and which dated from 1883, was accidentally destroyed by contractors using a road-rail crane in June 2005. Five of the original cast iron columns have been damaged beyond repair. The replacement replica columns were cast at Barr and Grosvenor's foundry in Wolverhampton during 2007. Approximately 70% of the original wrought iron span was found to be salvageable for reuse in the replacement which has been rebuilt a little higher than the original to comply with current regulations. The GWR signal box stood slightly to the east of Codsall station. It was taken out of use and control of the area passed to Madeley Junction as a result of the 2006 resignalling scheme. Penkridge Railway Station
Penkridge railway station is a station serving the village of Penkridge in Staffordshire, England. It is situated on the Birmingham branch of the West Coast Main Line. To the north, the line continues towards Stafford. To the south, the line continues towards the city of Wolverhampton. Stafford
Stafford () is a market town and the county town of Staffordshire, in the West Midlands region of England. It lies about north of Wolverhampton, south of Stoke-on-Trent and northwest of Birmingham.
