The Albert Falcou Cup (french: Coupe Albert-Falcou), also called Albert Falcou French Cup (french: Coupe de France Albert-Falcou), is an annual knock-out competition organised by the Fédération Française de Rugby à XIII for amateur rugby league clubs in France. History The competition was introduced in 1937 and was originally known as the French Amateur Cup. The inaugural winners were the short-lived La Rochelle club (during World War II the club was forced to merge with the city's rugby union club, Atlantique Stade Rochelais, by the Vichy Government of the time). When rugby league was legalised again at the end of the war, the cup was re-instituted as the National Cup. This incarnation was contested between 1945 and 1962. Two now-defunct clubs dominated the post war years; the Biganos-based Facture XIII won the cup five times and Lavardac XIII (from the eponymous Lot-et-Garonne town), which folded in the 1980s, won it on four occasions. Tonneins XIII
Tonneins XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Tonneins, Lot-et-Garonne, in the Aquitaine region. They play in the French National Division 1. The club plays its home games at the Stade Jean-Bernege History Founded in 1934 making them one of the earliest Rugby League teams in France. They spent their early years in the lower leagues, indeed it wasn't until the 1990s that the club began to win major honours. A Federal Cup win 1990 was quickly followed IN 1992 by a runners-up spot in the National 2 league now called the National Division 1 after losing out to Saint-Hyppolite XIII 12-20. The club was offered and accepted promotion to the 2nd tier. After a couple of seasons in mid-table they then reached the league final in 95/96 losing out to RC Salon XIII 16-30. Sainte-Livrade XIII
Sainte-Livrade XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Sainte-Livrade in the region of Lot-et-Garonne in southern France. The club was founded in 1939. They currently play in the National Division 2 Aquitaine regional league. History Founded in 1939 just prior to the outbreak of ''World War II'' as SSL XIII Les Aigles Livradois, the club due to the Vichy Government was forced to close down almost immediately due to the banning of the sport of Rugby League. It wasn't until season 77/78 that they reached a major final, where they lost out narrowly to Realmont XIII in the National 2, now called the National Division 1, final 13-14. The Coupe Falcou would bring success as they lifted the cup on no fewer than 4 occasions, 87, 94, 2000 and 2002. Racing Club Lescure-Arthès XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Lescure-d'Albigeois, Tarn in the Midi-Pyrénées region. The club plays in the French Elite Two Championship. Founded in 1964 as a youth side, their home ground is the Stade Jean Vidal. History Racing Club Lescure XIII as they were originally called were founded in 1964 by school teacher Jean Carayon as a youth team. Palau XIII Broncos also known as Palau XIII or Palau Broncos are a professional rugby league team based in Palau-del-Vidre in the Occitanie region in the south of France. National Division 2 is the fourth tier of rugby league in France, below the National Division 1. The season runs from September to April. The Division is split into 5 regional leagues, Languedoc-Roussillon, Midi-Pyrenees, Aquitaine, Ile de France and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur (PACA). Clubs play each other home and away in their respective regional league with the top clubs progressing into a series of play-off matches to determine the champions. Saint-Laurent XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque, Pyrénées Orientales in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. The club plays in the French National Division 1. Home matches are played at the Stade Jep Maso. History Saint-Laurent de la Salanque as they were originally known were founded in 1956. Association Sports Clairacaise XIII who are more commonly known as AS Clairac XIII are a French Rugby league club based in Clairac, Lot-et-Garonne in the Aquitaine region. The club plays in the National Division 2 Aquitaine regional league, which is the 4th tier of Rugby League in France. Home games are played at the Stade Vivens. History The club was founded during the early 1950s and reached the old 2nd Division final in 1958 losing out to US Apt XIII 8-18. Montpellier XIII Red Devils ( fr:Montpellier Diables Rouges Rugby a XIII ) are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Montpellier, in the region of Herault, France. They currently play in the National Division 2. Their home ground is the Stade Sabathé. History Founded in 1953 as Montpellier Diables Rouges and named after the first club side to tour France in the 1930s, Salford, who were nicknamed the Diables Rouges in reference to their red playing shirts, Montpellier reached the top tier in 1957 and until the 1990s very little else occurred apart from them moving grounds in 1971 when their original stadium the Stade du Pont was closed down and demolished.
