Cotton Factory Club was an Ethiopian football club based in Dire Dawa. They were a member of the Ethiopian Football Federation national league. Their home stadium was Dire Dawa Stadium. In 1960, 1962, 1963, 1965 and 1983 the team won the Ethiopian Premier League. Dire Dawa Stadium
Dire Dawa Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dire Dawa, Ethiopia. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches, on club level by Dire Dawa City of the Ethiopian Premier League. The stadium has a capacity of 18,000 spectators. History The stadium hosted six matches during the 1976 African Cup of Nations hosted by Ethiopia. In 2018, the stadium under went renovation work after the conclusion of Dire Dawa City S.C., Dire Dawa City's 2017–18 Ethiopian Premier League, 2017-18 season. The renovation included an overhaul of the main pitch surface. Dire Dawa ( am, ድሬዳዋ, om, Dirree Dhawaa, 3=Place of Remedy; so, Diridhaba, meaning "where Dir hit his spear into the ground" or "The true Dir", ar, ديري داوا,) is a city in eastern Ethiopia near the Oromia and Somali Region border and one of two chartered cities in Ethiopia (the other being Addis Ababa, the capital). Dire Dawa alongside present-day Sitti Zone were apart of the Dire Dawa autonomous region stipulated in the 1987 Ethiopian Constitution until 1993 when it was split by the federal government into a separately administered chartered city. This was due to the ongoing clashes between the OLF and IGLF and prevented any further escalation. The Ethiopian Football Federation (EFF) (Amharic: የኢትዮጵያ እግር ኳስ ፌዴሬሽን) is the governing body of football in Ethiopia. It organizes all tiers of the national football league and the national team.
