Corpo Italiano Di San Lazzaro
The Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro (CSLI Italia, English: ''Italian Corps of Saint Lazarus'') is the Italian national Lazarus Union branch that has its origin in Naples on 1 March 2009. Activities The Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro main tasks are social activities, civil protection, youth engagement and psychological support. Currently the association is mainly active in Naples, Pozzuoli, Livorno and Rome. International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction The Day, instituted with the resolution 64/200 of the General Assembly of the United Nations on 21 December 2009, falls on 13 October of each year. The Corps, promoting a culture of prevention linked to civil protection activities, since 2016 organizes the ''GIRD – Giornata Internazionale per la Riduzione dei Disastri'' in Italy every year in collaboration with UNISDR. Humanitarian Aid
Humanitarian aid is material and logistic assistance to people who need help. It is usually short-term help until the long-term help by the government and other institutions replaces it. Among the people in need are the homeless, refugees, and victims of natural disasters, wars, and famines. Humanitarian relief efforts are provided for humanitarian purposes and include natural disasters and man-made disasters. The primary objective of humanitarian aid is to save lives, alleviate suffering, and maintain human dignity. It may, therefore, be distinguished from development aid, which seeks to address the underlying socioeconomic factors which may have led to a crisis or emergency. Civil Protection
Civil defense ( en, region=gb, civil defence) or civil protection is an effort to protect the citizens of a state (generally non-combatants) from man-made and natural disasters. Antonio Virgili (born in Naples, 1957) is an Italian professor, researcher, and consultant. For over thirty-five years, he has studied human sciences and social and integrative medicine. He is the scientific director of the Italian Institute of Social Sciences, president of the Centro Studi Internazionali, president of Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro, and vice president of the Lazarus Union. In 2019, he was appointed by the High Council of the Judiciary and the Ministry of Justice as an Honorary Judge at Youth Courts. Lazarus Union
The Corps Saint Lazarus International (CSLI), or simply the Lazarus Union, is an international non-governmental organization that focuses on humanitarian aid and civil protection, whilst following the principles of Saint Lazarus; tolerance, humility, mercy and charity. The Lazarus Union has members in more than 120 countries and enjoys General Consultative Status with the ECOSOC of the United Nations. History CSLI was founded in Austria in 2006. Heraldic Shield
In heraldry, an escutcheon () is a shield that forms the main or focal element in an achievement of arms. The word can be used in two related senses.
