Cora Helena Etter (née Brown; October 10, 1924 – August 19, 2020) was a Canadian politician in Nova Scotia. She served in the 54th General Assembly of Nova Scotia as a Progressive Conservative member for Hants East. Shubenacadie, Nova Scotia
Shubenacadie () is a village located in Hants County, in central Nova Scotia, Canada. As of 2021, the population was 411. The name for the Mi'kmaw territory in which present-day Shubenacadie is located and the origin of its name is the Mi'kmaw word ''Sipekne'katik'', which "place abounding in groundnuts" or "place where the wapato grows." Historically, the Sipekne'katik region was a large stretch of territory that covered central Nova Scotia. History Father Louis-Pierre Thury sought to gather the Mi'kmaq of Peninsular Nova Scotia into a single settlement around Shubenacadie as early as 1699. Walter John "Jack" Hawkins (born May 5, 1932) is an author and former politician in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Hants East in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1970 to 1978, from 1981 to 1984 and from 1988 to 1993 as a Liberal member. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and educated at Saint Mary's University and the University of New Brunswick. He served in the Canadian Army from 1955 to 1960, reaching the rank of lieutenant.
