Copper Coast Highway
Copper Coast Highway is a highway in South Australia which branches off from the Augusta Highway, Augusta and Port Wakefield Highways 2 km north of Port Wakefield, South Australia, Port Wakefield, and heads northwest across the top of Yorke Peninsula to Kadina, South Australia, Kadina, ending at the Spencer Gulf town of Wallaroo, South Australia, Wallaroo. Improvements In 2016, the Government of South Australia, state government proposed to restructure the intersection on the Copper Coast Highway at the north end of the Yorke Highway to provide a large roundabout instead of Yorke Highway terminating at a tee-junction. The roundabout is intended to reduce delays at the end of holiday periods when many people try to drive back towards Adelaide at the same time, and will permit road trains to operate between Port Wakefield, South Australia, Port Wakefield and Ardrossan, South Australia, Ardrossan which had previously not been permitted due to limitations of that intersection. Augusta Highway
Augusta Highway is the part of Australia's ring route ( Highway 1) located in South Australia between Port Wakefield and Port Augusta. Route Augusta Highway starts at the intersection with Eyre and Stuart Highways in Port Augusta West, then crosses the northern section of Spencer Gulf into central Port Augusta. It continues in a southerly direction as a single-carriageway highway with occasional overtaking lanes past Port Germein, Port Pirie, Crystal Brook and through Snowtown until it eventually meets Copper Coast Highway just north of Port Wakefield, where it continues south as Port Wakefield Highway. Port Giles
Port Giles is a port on Yorke Peninsula in the Australian state of South Australia located in the gazetted locality of Coobowie between the towns of Stansbury and Edithburgh. Port Giles a port facility consisting of a large jetty equipped for bulk handling of grain which is operated by Flinders Ports, and a similarly large grain storage facility operated by Viterra. It was opened by the then Premier of South Australia, Steele Hall in 1970, and led to the closure of many of the smaller ports on the peninsula. Port Giles can handle Panamax size ships or larger. Port Giles was purposely built to be able to handle bulk grain, and load it onto larger modern ships. Many of the other ports were not deep enough for larger ships, and could only be serviced by small ketches and coastal steamships. They only handled grain in bags, not in bulk. Joy Baluch AM Bridge
The Joy Baluch AM Bridge is a bridge across Spencer Gulf between Port Augusta and Port Augusta West in South Australia. It carries Highway 1 and is a key road link on both east–west and north–south road routes in Australia. The western end leads to Eyre Peninsula, the Eyre Highway (to Western Australia) and the Stuart Highway (to the Northern Territory). The eastern end leads to the Augusta Highway towards Adelaide, Victoria and New South Wales. The bridge was opened in 1972.
