The Copa del Rey 2005-06 was the 70th edition of the Spanish basketball Cup. It was organized by the ACB and was disputed in Madrid in the Palacio de Deportes de la Comunidad de Madrid between the 16th and 19 February. The winning team was TAU Cerámica. The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto (English: '' King's Cup of Basketball'') is an annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams organized by Spain's top professional league, the Liga ACB. History Originally known as the ''Copa de España de Baloncesto'', was first played in 1933 and contested in its first editions only by teams from the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. It was the first nationwide basketball competition played in Spain. During the Francoism, it was referred to as the ''Copa del Generalísimo de Baloncesto'', before becoming the ''Copa del Rey de Baloncesto'' in 1977. Format Until the establishment of the ACB in 1983, the Cup was played in its latest rounds with double-legged series and its final as a single game in a neutral venue. Roberto Dueñas
Roberto Dueñas Hernandez (born 1 November 1975) is a retired Spanish professional basketball player. At a height of 7 ft 3 inches tall, he played at the center position. Professional career Dueñas was drafted with the last overall pick (#57), of the 1997 NBA draft, by the Chicago Bulls, but he never played in the NBA. Dueñas played professionally with FC Barcelona from 1996–2005, during which time he won a EuroLeague championship in the 2002–03 season. Felipe Reyes
Felipe Reyes Cabanás (born March 16, 1980) is a Spanish former professional basketball player. He represented the senior Spain national team. Standing at a height of 2.04 m (6 ft 8 in) tall, and weighing 104 kg (229 lbs.), he plays at the power forward and center positions. During his pro club career, Reyes won two EuroLeague championships, in 2015 and 2018. He was also an All-EuroLeague First Team selection in the EuroLeague 2014–15 season. Igor Rakočević
Igor Rakočević ( sr-cyrl, Игор Ракочевић; born 29 March 1978) is a Serbian professional basketball executive and former player. At a height of 1.94 m (6'4 ") tall, he played at both the point guard and shooting guard positions, but he spent the vast majority of his career playing as a shooting guard. During his playing career, Rakočević was a two-time All-EuroLeague Team member, and a three-time Alphonso Ford EuroLeague Top Scorer Trophy winner. He was also a member of the senior FR Yugoslavian national team, which was eventually renamed the Serbian and Montenegrin national team. Elmer James Bennett (born February 13, 1970) is an American former professional basketball player. At a height of 6'0" (1.83 m), he played at the point guard position. High school Bennett played competitively for Bellaire High School, in Bellaire, Texas. College career Bennett played college basketball at the University of Notre Dame, with the Fighting Irish, from 1988 to 1992. Robert Michael Archibald (29 March 1980 – 23 January 2020) was a Scottish professional basketball player. A power forward / center from the University of Illinois, he was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2002 NBA draft with the third pick of the second round (32nd overall). Career Archibald graduated from Lafayette High School in 1998, along with MLB player Ryan Howard. Luis Alberto Scola Balvoa (born April 30, 1980) is an Argentine former professional basketball player and current executive who currently serves as the chief executive officer for the Italian Lega Basket Serie A (LBA) team Pallacanestro Varese. Travis Mitchell Hansen (born April 15, 1978) is an American former professional basketball player. He played for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Both his junior high school, Orem Junior High, and his high school, Mountain View High School, retired his jersey number, #24. Dávid Kornél (in English sometimes Kornel David, born October 22, 1971) is a Hungarian former professional basketball player. He is the only Hungarian to play in the NBA. Early life Dávid grew up with the Budapesti Honvéd juniors squad and made his debut with Budapest Honvéd during the 1987–88 season.
