Marcus Norris
Marcus Anthony Norris (born August 20, 1974) is an American former basketball player, who played for 17 years in Europe, in the guard position. He was the 2003-04 Israeli Basketball Premier League Defensive Player of the Year. Early life and education Norris was born in Jackson, Michigan, in 1974, playing basketball at Jackson High School (Jackson, Michigan), Jackson High School. He attended Lansing Community College and Ball State University. Career Norris played basketball in Tampere, Finland, for Pyrbasket from 1996 to 1998. From 1998 to 2000, he played in Croatia for KK Slavonski Brod, Svjetlost Brod. From 2000 to 2003, Norris went to Portugal to play for Clube Portugal Telecom, Portugal Telecom. From 2003 to 2004, he played in Israel for Bnei Herzliya Basket, Beni Hasharon, a team in the suburb of Tel Aviv. He was the 2003-04 Israeli Basketball Premier League Defensive Player of the Year. Guard (basketball)
In the sport of basketball, there are five players play per team, each assigned to positions. Historically, these players have been assigned, to positions defined by the role they play on the court, from a strategic point of view. The three main positions are guard, forward, and center, with the standard team featuring two guards, two forwards, and a center. Over time, as more specialized roles developed, each of the guards and forwards came to be differentiated, and today each of the five positions are known by unique names, each of which has also been assigned a number: point guard (PG) or 1, the shooting guard (SG) or 2, the small forward (SF) or 3, the power forward (PF) or 4, and the center (C) or 5. Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop.
