Copa Bicentenario
The Copa Bicentenario is a football competition in Peru played by the Association football, football clubs of the Peruvian Primera División, Liga 1 and Peruvian Segunda División, Liga 2. It was founded in 2019 by the Peruvian Football Federation and is played as a domestic football cup competition between clubs of the first and second division. It is named after the bicentennial of Peruvian Independence. Sporting Cristal are the current defending champions. History In Peru, there has never been a championship with the exception of the Copa de Campeones del Perú which was formed in 1919. Many attempts were made to crate a championship for both Liga 1 and Liga 2 teams but all have been kept active. The Copa Bicentenario was the first championship formed, along with the Supercopa Peruana to give teams more competition. Peruvian Football Federation
The Peruvian Football Federation ( es, Federación Peruana de Futbol or ) is the body that governs Association football in Peru. It was founded on August 23, 1922, and affiliated in 1924. A member of CONMEBOL since 1925, it directly oversees the Peru national football team, the Copa Federación, and the amateur leagues. It is indirectly involved in the organization of the Primera División (today Torneo Descentralizado), the Peruvian Primera División Femenina and Segunda División. 2020 Liga 1 (Peru)
The 2020 Liga 1 de Fútbol Profesional (known as the Liga 1 Movistar 2020 for sponsorship reasons) was the 104th season of the Peruvian Primera División, the highest division of Peruvian football. A total of 20 teams competed in the season with Binacional coming in as defending champions. The season started on 31 January 2020 and concluded on 20 December 2020 with the second leg of the finals. Sporting Cristal won its 20th domestic championship by beating Universitario in the finals by a 3–2 aggregate score. The competition was suspended between 12 March and 7 August due to the COVID-19 pandemic, being once again suspended that same day after one match had been played. The Alejandro Villanueva Stadium, popularly known as Matute, is a soccer stadium located in the Matute neighborhood of the La Victoria District, Lima, La Victoria district in Lima, Peru. The 2021 Copa Bicentenario was a tournament with the participation of the 18 teams of the Liga 1, and 12 teams of the Liga 2. The champions will qualify for the 2022 Copa Sudamericana, as well as the Supercopa Peruana against the Liga 1 champions. Atlético Grau were the defending champions. Sporting Cristal were the winners of the competition, beating Carlos A. Mannucci in the final by a 2–1 score to claim their first Copa Bicentenario title. Estadio Miguel Grau is a multi-use stadium in the Bellavista District of Callao, Peru. Penalty Shoot-out (association Football)
A penalty shoot-out (officially kicks from the penalty mark) is a tie-breaking method in association football to determine which team is awarded victory in a match that cannot end in a draw, when the score is tied after the normal time as well as extra time (if used) have expired. In a penalty shoot-out, each team takes turns shooting at goal from the penalty mark, with the goal defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. Each team has five shots which must be taken by different kickers; the team that makes more successful kicks is declared the victor. Shoot-outs finish as soon as one team has an insurmountable lead. If scores are level after five pairs of shots, the shootout progresses into additional " sudden-death" rounds. Balls successfully kicked into the goal during a shoot-out do not count as goals for the individual kickers or the team, and are tallied separately from the goals scored during normal play (including extra time, if any).
