Coolmeen GAA
Coolmeen GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Coolmeen, County Clare, Ireland. It takes part in competitions organised by the Clare GAA county board. It fields teams in Gaelic football. History Coolmeen GAA club was formed in 1887. Since then the club has won numerous Gaelic Football championship titles at adult and underage level. Throughout the last century Coolmeen has won two senior football championships, as well as having success at intermediate and junior levels. The club's adult football team are currently at intermediate status. The last Junior 'A' championship came to Coolmeen in 1999 with a one-point victory over Clondegad in the final. The most recent success came to the club in 2010 when the U21s beat O'Currys/Naoimh Eoin to win their second Under-21 "C" championship in a row. Coolmeen ( ga, Cúil Mhín), formerly called Kilfiddane ( ga, Cill Fheadáin), is a Roman Catholic parish in County Clare, Ireland. Location The parish lies in the southeast of the barony of Clonderalaw. It is southwest of Kildysart. The parish is and covers . It extends from the River Fergus estuary westward along the Shannon Estuary and north to the head of Clonderlaw bay. The road from Ennis to Kilrush runs through the parish. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. A goal is awarded for kicking the ball under the crossbar into the net (the ball cannot be hand-passed into the goal), signalled by the umpire raising a green flag. Clare Senior Football Championship
The Clare Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition organised by Clare GAA between the top twelve gaelic football clubs in County Clare, Ireland. The winners represent the county in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which progress to the semi-finals of the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The Clare SFC final is generally held in the month of October and is played at Cusack Park in Ennis. In 2014 Cratloe completed a historic first Clare Senior Championship'' 'Double' ''in eighty-five years since the famous Ennis Dalcassians in 1929. Clare Intermediate Football Championship
The Clare Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the second tier football teams in the county of County Clare, Clare in Ireland. The 2022 Intermediate Champions are Kildysart GAA, Kildysart who defeated Cooraclare GAA, Cooraclare to win their third title at this grade. Format The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final usually being played at Cusack Park (Ennis), Cusack Park. The Munster Junior Club Football Championship, formally known for sponsorship reasons as the AIB Munster GAA Junior Club Football Championship, is a Gaelic football competition, organized by the Munster provincial council of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The competition is played between the winners of the Junior Football championships in the 6 counties of Munster. It was first played officially in 2003 when Annascaul from Kerry and Carbery Rangers from Cork played each other. The winners of this competition will play against the winners of the other three provincial champions and the winner of the Britain championship for the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship. The Clare Junior A Football Championship (abbreviated to Clare JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football club competition organised by the Clare County Board of the GAA for clubs below the Intermediate and Senior grades. It is contested by the top-ranking Junior clubs in County Clare, Ireland. It is the third-tier adult competition of the Clare football pyramid. The Clare Under-21 Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition between the under-21 Gaelic Football clubs in Clare.
