Contre Jour
''Contre Jour'' is a physics-based puzzle video game for web browsers, Windows Phone, Blackberry, Android, iOS and Symbian. It was developed in 2011 by Ukrainian developer Mokus and published by Electronic Arts through its label Chillingo. The art for the game ''Contre Jour'' was created by artist Mihai Tymoshenko. The soundtrack for ''Contre Jour'' was composed by David Ari Leon. The game focuses upon a little blob named Petit, a reference to ''Le Petit Prince'', whose means of locomotion is to be manoeuvered around by manipulating his environment through the various areas of the game using the touch screen. Development On 3 November 2011 ''Contre Jour'' for iOS was made available through the App Store. A native (HD) version for the iPad was released on the same day. The Appy Awards, presented on 11 April 2011, marked successful and popular applications (generally known as "apps") for mobile devices. Sponsored by The Carphone Warehouse, Europe's largest independent mobile phone retailer, awards were presented in ten categories in a ceremony hosted by television presenters Richard Hammond and Amanda Byram. According to the sponsors, it was "the UK's first major app awards ceremony designed to recognise innovation and development in app technology." The company hoped to make it an annual event. Carphone Warehouse staff nominated around 1,000 apps from which a panel of judges produced a shortlist of 50, announced by Hammond in February 2011. ''Develop'' was a monthly UK trade magazine for the video game industry. Its online portal, complete with a digital version of the print publication, was active since July 2007. Develop 100 was an annual rating system for game developers produced by ''Develop''. Metacritic is a website that review aggregator, aggregates reviews of films, TV shows, music albums, video games and formerly, books. For each product, the scores from each review are averaged (a weighted arithmetic mean, weighted average). Metacritic was created by Jason Dietz, Marc Doyle, and Julie Doyle Roberts in 1999. The site provides an excerpt from each review and hyperlinks to its source. A color of green, yellow or red summarizes the critics' recommendations. It is regarded as the foremost online review aggregation site for the video game industry. Metacritic's scoring converts each review into a percentage, either mathematically from the mark given, or what the site decides subjectively from a qualitative review.
