Conservative Party (Panama)
The Conservative Party (, PC) was a Panamanian political party. Panama inherited the traditional political parties of Colombia – the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party – which vied against one another from 1903 until the 1920s. The local section, less doctrinaire than its Colombian parent, included most of the new nation's white minority, and was led by Manuel Amador Guerrero who served as the republic's first President. Colombian Conservative Party
The Colombian Conservative Party ( es, Partido Conservador Colombiano) is a conservative political party in Colombia. The party was formally established in 1849 by Mariano Ospina Rodríguez and José Eusebio Caro. The Conservative party along with the Colombian Liberal Party dominated the Colombian political scene from the end of the 19th century until 2002, in bipartisan political hegemony. In the mid-20th century, the Conservative Party and the Liberal Party established the "National Front" after deposing President Gustavo Rojas Pinilla; the presidency alternated between the two parties for the next 16 years. Manuel Amador Guerrero
Manuel Amador Guerrero (30 June 1833 – 2 May 1909), was the first president of Panama from 20 February 1904 to 1 October 1908. He was a member of the Conservative Party (Panama), Conservative Party. Early life Manuel Amador Guerrero was born on 30 June 1833 in Turbaco, in the Bolívar Department of the Republic of Colombia to María Mercedes Guerrero Córdoba and José María Amador Leguina. Very little is known about his childhood and teenage years, but he studied to be a surgeon and graduated from the University of Cartagena, Universidad de Magdalena e Istmo in 1854. Career Amador came to Panama in 1855 settling in Colón, Panama, Colón and started working on the Panama Railroad as a doctor. After a year, he also took a job as the postmaster.
