Coronation Street is a British soap opera, broadcast on ITV. ''Coronation Street'' is an English soap opera created by Granada Television and shown on ITV since 9 December 1960. The programme centres around a cobbled, terraced street in Weatherfield, a fictional town based on inner-city Salford. Originally broadcast twice weekly, the series began airing six times a week in 2017. The programme was conceived by scriptwriter Tony Warren. Warren's initial proposal was rejected by the station's founder Sidney Bernstein, but he was persuaded by producer Harry Elton to produce the programme for 13 pilot episodes, and the show has since become a significant part of English culture. Paul Clayton is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera '' Coronation Street''. Portrayed by Lee Booth, the character first appeared on-screen during an episode that aired on 29 November 2000. When the character returned in 2007, Paul was played by Tom Hudson. Storylines The son of Terry Duckworth and Andrea Clayton, Paul was born off-screen on 16 February 1986, following the Clayton family's departure. Paul was raised by his maternal grandmother whilst Andrea went to university. Paul's paternal grandmother, Vera, however, insisted on some involvement in her grandson's upbringing, so the family decided to leave. Southport
Southport is a seaside town in the Metropolitan Borough of Sefton in Merseyside, England. Percy Sugden
Percy Sugden is a fictional character from the British ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'', played by Bill Waddington. He appeared between 1983 and 1997. Creation The character was introduced to ''Coronation Street'' as a potential caretaker of the Community Centre. Percy's niece, Elaine Prior, stayed with him until she married Bill Webster (Peter Armitage). Percy was also a school crossing patrol 'lollipop' man, and Phyllis Pearce (Jill Summers) came to respect him greatly after he was injured trying to protect her.
