Confédération Européenne De Billard
The Confédération Européene de Billard (CEB) is the European governing body of carom billiards and is affiliated to the world federation UMB. History The CEB was founding on 12 July 1958 in Geneva. Its predecessor was the Fédération Internationale de Billard (FIB). They and the Union Internationale des Amateurs d'Fédérations de Billiard (UIFAB) competed in 1957 to host the CEB European Three-cushion Championship, and thus two championships were held this year. The dispute had been settled the following year. The CEB is responsible for the carom billiards Carom billiards, sometimes called carambole billiards, is the overarching title of a family of cue sports generally played on cloth-covered, billiard tables. Carom Billiards
Carom billiards, sometimes called carambole billiards, is the overarching title of a family of cue sports generally played on cloth-covered, billiard tables. In its simplest form, the object of the game is to score or "counts" by ' one's own off both the opponent's cue ball and the on a single shot. The invention as well as the exact date of origin of carom billiards is somewhat obscure but is thought to be traceable to 18th-century France. There is a large array of carom billiards disciplines. Some of the more prevalent today and historically are (chronologically by apparent date of development): straight rail, one-cushion, balkline, three-cushion and artistic billiards. Carom billiards is popular in Europe, particularly France, where it originated. The Union Mondiale de Billard ( French for World Union of Billiards) is the world governing body for carom (carambole) billiard games. History The organization was founded in Madrid, Spain on 1 June 1959, and is dedicated to promoting the modern carom billiards games. However, the actual founding of the World Federation took place in 1923 under the name "Union Internationale des Fédérations des Amateurs de Billard" (UIFAB). CEB European Three-cushion Championship
The CEB European Three-cushion Championship is three-cushion billiards tournament organized by the Confédération Européenne de Billard. Held since 1932, it is one of longest-running tournaments in the sport. The 2007 event offered a total purse of €18,500 (US$26,134) with €4,000 ($5,651) for the winner. Before 1995, there was a third place match played between the two losing finalists, in order to determine the ranking. However, the match has been cancelled since then and the losing finalists are regarded as having the same ranking in the competition. Since the season 2012/13 the tournament was held in a mammoth event every two years in Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany. African Carom Confederation
The African Carom Confederation (ACC) is the African continental federation for carom billiards. It is a member of the world federation Union Mondiale de Billard (UMB) and was founded on 25 March 2013 in Cairo. History At the General Assembly of UMB, held in December 2012 in Valencia, Spain, the president of the Egyptian Federation of Billiards Sports (EFBS), El Sharif Al Hussein, announced that EFBS would disaffiliate from Confédération Européenne de Billard (CEB), the European Association for carom billiards, of which EFBS was a member since its foundation in 1958, and would create their own African Association.
