State Highway 317 (SH 317) is a state highway in the US state of Colorado. The western terminus is at SH 13 in Hamilton, and the eastern terminus is at Routt County Route 29 (CR 29). Route description SH 317 runs , starting at a junction with SH 13 in Hamilton. The highway follows the Williams Fork River to the east and ends at a junction with CR 29 just over the Routt County line. Moffat County is a county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. As of the 2020 census, the population was 13,292. The county seat is Craig. With an area of 4,751 square miles, it is the 2nd largest county by area in Colorado, behind Las Animas County. Route description The route begins at a diamond interchange with Interstate 70 south of Rifle. It then crosses the Colorado River and intersects U.S. Highway 6 at the south side of Rifle. Along the north side of town the road turns slightly northeastward as it passes through the northern Rifle and into grassland, where it intersects State Highway 325. As the road turns back northward and then slightly northwestward, the surrounding terrain turns into a more barren land dotted with occasional shrubs and grass. As the road continues northwestward, the shrubs and trees become more dense along hillsides. SH 13 then crosses into Rio Blanco County, when the direction becomes straight north.
