Ballynacally
Ballynacally () is a village and townland situated southwest of Ennis, on the R473 coast road to Kilrush in the civil parish of Kilchreest, County Clare, Ireland. It lies near the bank of the River Shannon. History Ballynacally derives from ''Baile na Caillí''. This means "the nun's land", because it belonged to the nuns of Killone Convent. It is home to many historical structures and monuments. The area is known to have been visited by St.Brendan and St. Senan who established monasteries in the islands. The Vikings looted the churches while travelling up the Shannon to Limerick. During the Norman period nuns occupied the Kilchreest area, and Norman castles were erected at Dangan, Ballycorick, and Cragbrien. The ruins of the Dangan tower still remain. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. The 2015 Clare Senior Football Championship was the 120th staging of the Clare Senior Football Championship since its establishment by the Clare County Board in 1887. The Clare Senior Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association club competition organised by Clare GAA between the top twelve gaelic football clubs in County Clare, Ireland. The winners represent the county in the Munster Senior Club Football Championship, the winners of which progress to the semi-finals of the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship. The Clare SFC final is generally held in the month of October and is played at Cusack Park in Ennis. Cratloe GAA
Cratloe GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the village of Cratloe, County Clare, Ireland. The club deals with both Gaelic football and hurling and basketball. The club competes in Clare GAA competitions. In November 2013, Cratloe won their first ever Clare Senior Football Championship title, defeating Doonbeg by 0-10 to 0-7. They reached the 2013 Munster Senior Club Football Championship final on 1 December, but were defeated 0-13 to 0-12 by Dr Crokes. In 2014, Cratloe won the Clare Senior Hurling championship on 5th October and the Clare Senior Football Championship seven days later. The Clare Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football competition organised by the Clare GAA, Clare County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association for the second tier football teams in the county of County Clare, Clare in Ireland. The Clare Junior A Football Championship (abbreviated to Clare JAFC) is an annual Gaelic football club competition organised by the Clare County Board of the GAA for clubs below the Intermediate and Senior grades. It is contested by the top-ranking Junior clubs in County Clare, Ireland. It is the third-tier adult competition of the Clare football pyramid. The 2023 Clare Junior Champions are Killimer who defeated Éire Óg, Ennis to be crowned champions after extra time for their first at this grade.
