Citylink Plaza
Citylink Plaza is a building that stands above Sha Tin station on the MTR East Rail line in Hong Kong. It was developed and is owned by the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC). The building, as well as the railway station, is connected to New Town Plaza, which is one of the largest shopping centres in Sha Tin District. History The building originally housed the headquarters of the KCRC and some offices of the Hong Kong Government. It was called the KCR House () when it opened in 1983. The shopping centre was called Railway Mall and was renamed Citylink Plaza after it was renovated at the end of 1993. The Hong Kong Government built a separate building near Grand Central Plaza to house the government offices, and the headquarters of the KCRC had moved to a new building next to Fo Tan station on the MTR East Rail line. Sha Tin Station
Sha Tin station, formerly known as Sha Tin railway station ( or ) is a List of MTR stations, station on the of Hong Kong's MTR, Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system. The station is located in the town centre of Sha Tin. The station was formerly on the main line of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR), but since KCR's merger with the MTR, it belongs to the East Rail line of the MTR. Citylink Plaza, which has a footbridge link to New Town Plaza, is built on top of the station. The station serves two large bus termini with buses going to many places around Hong Kong (such as Sai Kung Town, Sai Kung or Tung Chung). East Rail Line
The East Rail line () is one of ten lines of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. It used to be one of the three lines of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR) network. It was known as the KCR British Section () from 1910 to 1996, and the KCR East Rail () from 1996 to 2007. East Rail was the only railway line of the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC) following the closure of the Sha Tau Kok Railway and before the construction of ''KCR West Rail'' (later renamed West Rail line, now part of the Tuen Ma line). Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation
The Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation (KCRC; ) is a Hong Kong wholly government-owned railway and land asset manager. It was established in 1982 under the Kowloon-Canton Railway Corporation Ordinance for the purposes of operating the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR), and to construct and operate other new railways. On 2 December 2007, the MTR Corporation Limited (MTRCL), another railway operator in Hong Kong, took over the operations of the KCR network under a 50-year service concession agreement, which can be extended. Under the service concession, KCRC retains ownership of the KCR network with the MTRCL making annual payments to KCRC for the right to operate the network. New Town Plaza
New Town Plaza is a shopping mall in the town centre of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. Developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties, it was the biggest shopping centre in the New Territories when it was completed in the early 1980s. Covering 200,000 square metres (49.4 acres), the plaza comprises Phase 1 (the main mall) and Phase 3, which are connected to each other, as well as the Grand Central Plaza, which is less than one kilometre from Phase 1. Phase 1 underwent extensive renovation from 2003 to 2008. The nine-storey shopping centre is right next to Sha Tin station and Citylink Plaza. It is one of the busiest shopping malls in Hong Kong. Sha Tin District
Sha Tin District is one of the 18 districts of Hong Kong. As one of the 9 districts located in the New Territories, it covers the areas of Sha Tin, Tai Wai, Ma On Shan, Fo Tan, Siu Lek Yuen, and Ma Liu Shui. Grand Central Plaza () is a commercial development located near the town centre of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. It comprises two 16-storey office towers atop a multi-storey shopping podium called HomeSquare which specialises in home decor and furnishings. It is owned by Sun Hung Kai Properties, which also owns the nearby New Town Plaza, and was completed in 1995. Tenants HomeSquare is a thematic shopping centre housed in the podium base of the development and designed by architect Barrie Ho. Fo Tan Station
Fo Tan () is a station on the of the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system in Hong Kong. It is located in the Fo Tan area of Sha Tin District, between and stations on the East Rail line's main branch. The is located parallel to Fo Tan, on the line's Racecourse branch. The passenger station serves some apartment buildings, villages, and a medium-sized industrial zone, as well as the of the MTRC.
