Grand Central Plaza
Grand Central Plaza () is a commercial development located near the town centre of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. It comprises two 16-storey office towers atop a multi-storey shopping podium called HomeSquare which specialises in home decor and furnishings. It is owned by Sun Hung Kai Properties, which also owns the nearby New Town Plaza, and was completed in 1995. Tenants HomeSquare is a thematic shopping centre housed in the podium base of the development and designed by architect Barrie Ho. It is owned by Sun Hung Kai Properties, and has five floors filled with shops offering home furnishings. The grand opening and renaming ceremony was held on 7 November 2010 following refurbishment of the retail levels. An IKEA store, one of four in Hong Kong, occupies of the uppermost podium levels and was the largest in Hong Kong until the Kowloon Bay store relocated from Telford Gardens to MegaBox. Sha Tin
Sha Tin, also spelt Shatin, is a neighbourhood along Shing Mun River in the eastern New Territories, Hong Kong. Administratively, it is part of the Sha Tin District. Sha Tin is one of the neighbourhoods of the Sha Tin New Town project. The new town was founded in 1973 under the New Towns Development Programme of the Hong Kong government. Its current name was named after the nearby village of Sha Tin Wai. The literal English translation is 'Sand Fields'. History Tai Wai Village, located in Tai Wai, next to Sha Tin, and the oldest and largest walled village in Sha Tin District, was built in 1574, during the Ming Dynasty. Sha Tin Station
Sha Tin station, formerly known as Sha Tin railway station ( or ) is a List of MTR stations, station on the of Hong Kong's MTR, Mass Transit Railway (MTR) system. The station is located in the town centre of Sha Tin. The station was formerly on the main line of the Kowloon–Canton Railway (KCR), but since KCR's merger with the MTR, it belongs to the East Rail line of the MTR. Citylink Plaza, which has a footbridge link to New Town Plaza, is built on top of the station. New Town Plaza
New Town Plaza is a shopping mall in the town centre of Sha Tin, Hong Kong. Developed by Sun Hung Kai Properties, it was the biggest shopping centre in the New Territories when it was completed in the early 1980s. Covering 200,000 square metres (49.4 acres), the plaza comprises Phase 1 (the main mall) and Phase 3, which are connected to each other, as well as the Grand Central Plaza, which is less than one kilometre from Phase 1. Phase 1 underwent extensive renovation from 2003 to 2008. The nine-storey shopping centre is right next to Sha Tin station and Citylink Plaza. It is one of the busiest shopping malls in Hong Kong. Telford Gardens (often referred to as "Telford Garden") is a private housing estate located above the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot and alongside Kowloon Bay station in Kowloon Bay, Kowloon, Hong Kong. MegaBox is a large shopping centre in Hong Kong and part of the Enterprise Square Five shopping and office complex, located at 38 Wang Chiu Road, Kowloon Bay, Kowloon. With 19 stories and a floor area of , MegaBox is the largest shopping centre in Eastern Kowloon. In addition MegaBox houses an ice rink, MegaIce, which is the largest in Hong Kong at 26 metres x 57 metres. MegaBox's UA theatre is the first commercial theatre in Hong Kong to have the IMAX film display system. It also offers a 1000-space car park. Although it is not built on top of a railway station, the mall is accessible by its free shuttle bus service, plying between the mall and MTR Kowloon Bay station with a frequent headway.
