Ciarán Hyland
Ciarán Hyland is a Gaelic footballer from County Wicklow, Ireland. He plays with the Wicklow intercounty team with whom he won a Tommy Murphy Cup medal in 2007. He won €124,000 during an appearance on the National Lottery's summer scratch-card TV game show ''The Big Money Game'' in 2009. In September 2009 Hyland was nominated for a GAA All Star Award, along with Wicklow teammate Leighton Glynn. Arklow
Arklow (; ; , ) is a town in County Wicklow on the southeast coast of Ireland. The town is overlooked by Ballymoyle Hill. It was founded by the Vikings in the ninth century. Arklow was the site of one of the bloodiest battles of the 1798 rebellion. Its proximity to Dublin led to it becoming a commuter town with a population of 13,163 as of the 2016 census. Arklow is at the mouth of the River Avoca, the longest river wholly within County Wicklow. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). Wicklow GAA
The Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Cill Mhantáin) or Wicklow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wicklow. The county board is also responsible for the Wicklow county teams. The county football team plays in the Leinster Senior Football Championship. Wicklow has had very little success at senior level, being the only football team in the province and one of two in Ireland to have never won a senior title in either code, the other being Fermanagh. The county hurling team competes in the Christy Ring Cup, the third tier of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship. Tommy Murphy Cup
The Tommy Murphy Cup was a Gaelic football competition, featuring senior county teams eliminated from the early stages of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship and also Kilkenny when not fielding a team in the main All-Ireland. The series of games, organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association, were played during the summer months with the final being played in August at Croke Park. The Cup was named after Tommy Murphy, a footballer from County Laois who was, appropriately for the competition, the only member of the Team of the Millennium from a county which had not won an All-Ireland. Later changes to the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship meant that the 2008 Tommy Murphy Cup featured the eight lowest-ranking teams in National Football League, unless the teams reached the final of their respective provincial championships. The Big Money Game
''The Big Money Game'' is a game show, broadcast on RTÉ One on Saturday nights during the summer months of June, July and August as a seasonal replacement for ''Winning Streak''. The successor to '' Fame and Fortune'' (1996–2006) and '' The Trump Card'' (2007), ''The Big Money Game'' was first broadcast on Saturday, 14 June 2008. As with ''Winning Streak'', production costs for the programme are paid by RTÉ and the prize money is funded by the Irish National Lottery. Entry to the game show is based on getting three "lucky stars" on associated National Lottery scratchcards and submitting them for a televised drawing. Contestants can win cash prizes up to €250,000, as well as cars, holidays, and other prizes. The first series was presented by Laura Woods. Leighton Glynn
Leighton Glynn is a Gaelic football and hurling player from County Wicklow in Ireland. He was born and raised in Glenealy, County Wicklow. He has represented the Wicklow senior GAA teams in both football and hurling. At club level, he plays hurling for Glenealy and football for Rathnew. Playing career Club In December 2001, Leighton won a Leinster Senior Club Championship with Rathnew when they defeated a Na Fianna team that included Kieran McGeeney and Jason Sherlock after extra time in a replay. The first match which ended in a draw saw Leighton spring from the bench with Rathnew behind to score a point before Mark Doyle levelled to set up a replay.
