Cian McCarthy
Cian McCarthy (born 3 September 1989) is an Irish hurler who plays for Junior Championship club Passage. He usually lines out in the half-forward line. McCarthy is a former member of the Sarsfields and the Cork senior hurling team. Early life McCarthy was born in Glanmire, County Cork. His father, Teddy McCarthy, was a dual player with Cork and is the only player to have won All-Ireland medals at senior level in the same year. Playing career Sarsfields McCarthy joined the Sarsfields club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels, experiencing Cork Minor Championship success in 2007. McCarthy made his first appearance with the Sarsfields senior team on 3 May 2008 in 2-09 to 2-08 defeat of Ballinhassig. On 28 September 2008, McCarthy lined out at right wing-forward in his first senior championship final. Sarsfield's GAA (Cork)
Sarsfields GAA is a hurling club is based in the Riverstown and Glanmire area of County Cork. The club plays in the Imokilly GAA, Imokilly division of Cork GAA. They have won six County Championships, 1951, 1957, 2008, 2010, 2012 and 2014. They have also won three Minor County Championships, 2007, 2008 and 2014. Glen Rovers GAA
Glen Rovers is a Cork (city), Cork-based Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Blackpool, Cork, Ireland. The club was founded in 1916 and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. They were Cork senior hurling champions in 2015 and 2016, having won their first title in 26 years in 2015. They retained the championship in 2016, when they beat Erin's Own in the final. Only Blackrock have won more Cork senior hurling championships. Hurling Colours In the early days of the club, its colours were green, white and gold. 2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2010 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 114th staging of Ireland's premier hurling competition since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. A total of thirteen teams competed in the championship, with Tipperary unseating the four-time defending champions Kilkenny by 4-17 to 1-18 in the final at Croke Park, Dublin. National Hurling League
The National Hurling League is an annual Inter county, inter-county hurling competition featuring teams from Ireland and England. Founded in 1925 by the Gaelic Athletic Association, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation within the league system. The league has 35 teams divided into six divisions, with either five or six teams in each division. Promotion and relegation between these divisions is a central feature of the league. Although primarily a competition for Irish teams, teams from England – currently Lancashire GAA, Lancashire, London GAA, London and Warwickshire GAA, Warwickshire – also take part, while in the past New York GAA, New York also fielded a team for the latter stages of the league. Waterford Crystal Cup
The Waterford Crystal Cup was an annual hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association from 2006 to 2015 for the top inter-county teams and third-level institutes and universities in the province of Munster in Ireland. The series of games were played during January and February. The prize for the winning team is a special piece of glassware donated by Waterford Crystal. Waterford IT GAA
Waterford IT GAA is the GAA club of the Waterford Institute of Technology, established in 1981. Its hurling team play in the Fitzgibbon Cup and Waterford Crystal Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. Its football team play in the Sigerson Cup and McGrath Cup as well as Higher Education Leagues. It's camogie team competes in the Ashbourne Cup. The 2007 All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship was the 77th staging of the All-Ireland Minor Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1928. The championship began on 21 April 2007 and ended on 2 September 2007. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions. On 2 September 2007, Tipperary won the championship following a 3-14 to 2-11 defeat of Cork in the All-Ireland final. This was their second All-Ireland title in-a-row.
