''Christmas Memories'' is the second Christmas music, Christmas album and twenty-ninth studio release by American singer Barbra Streisand. It was released on October 30, 2001, by Columbia Records, Columbia. Streisand recorded the album during July, August, and September 2001 in various recording studios throughout California and in North Vancouver (city), North Vancouver. It was executive producer, executive-produced by Streisand and Jay Landers, while William Ross (composer), William Ross and David Foster served as additional producers. The album contains several cover versions of various holiday songs. To promote ''Christmas Memories'', Columbia Records released an advance sampler album, sampler version of the album titled ''A Voice for All Seasons''. The record's mood was described as melancholic, which Music criticism, music critics found fitting due to the album's release occurring soon after the September 11 attacks. In popular music, a cover version, cover song, remake, revival, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording by a musician other than the original performer or composer of the song. Donna Karan (, born Donna Ivy Faske), also known as "DK", is an American fashion designer and the creator of the Donna Karan New York and DKNY clothing labels. I'll Be Home For Christmas
"I'll Be Home for Christmas" is a Christmas song written by the lyricist Kim Gannon and composer Walter Kent and recorded in 1943 by Bing Crosby, who scored a top ten hit with the song. Originally written to honor soldiers overseas who longed to be home at Christmas time, "I'll Be Home for Christmas" has since gone on to become a Christmas standard. Theme The song is sung from the point of view of a soldier stationed overseas during World War II, writing a letter to his family. In the message, he tells his family he will be coming home and to prepare the holiday for him, and requests snow, mistletoe, and presents under the tree. ''A Christmas Album'' (1967) is the first Christmas album and the tenth studio album released by Barbra Streisand. Background and release The album is one of Streisand's best-selling albums and is ranked as one of the best-selling Christmas albums of all time. The cover photograph of the album was taken on June 16, 1967, during the rehearsal for her concert, ''A Happening in Central Park''. The album is also Streisand's last album to use Columbia's "Stereo 360 sound" banner, and the last to be issued originally in monaural and stereo. ''Christmas at Our House'' is the 15th solo studio album by the American country artist Barbara Mandrell. The album was released in October 1984 on MCA Records and was produced by Tom Collins. It was Mandrell's first album of Christmas music.
