Chris Roberts (singer)
Chris Roberts (born Christian Franz Klusáček; 13 March 1944 – 2 July 2017) was a German schlager singer and actor. He was born in Munich- Schwabing and was married to the singer and actress Claudia Roberts; they often performed on stage together. Biography Roberts was most popular as a singer in Germany in the 1970s; he charted there with 24 songs between 1968 and 1980. He also acted in a number of films during that time. He represented Luxembourg as a part of a sextet in the Eurovision Song Contest 1985 in which they sang "Children, Kinder, Enfants". They earned 37 points and attained 13th position. Roberts' first two singles, "Baby's Gone" and "Welchen Weg soll ich gehen", were released under the artist name Chris Robert. Death Chris Roberts died after suffering lung cancer. The Goldene Stimmgabel (English: Golden Tuning Fork) was an annual prize awarded within the German music scene from 1981 to 2007. The prizes were awarded according to the number of records sold from October of the previous year to June of the year of the award, as determined by Media Control. It was established in 1981 by Dieter Thomas Heck, who hosted the television gala award show every year since then. It was broadcast on either ARD or ZDF until the year 2000. From 2001 to 2007 the award show was broadcast by ZDF alone. In 2008, ZDF decided not to present the award and did not announce whether they would be resumed later, discontinued, or replaced with another award. The award has not been held since (as of October 2019). Goldene Europa award is the oldest German Television award for artists and entertainers. It was awarded from 1968 to 2003. In the years 1989 and 2001, there were no ceremonies. Since 1981, the gala was broadcast on television. The original sculpture award for the "Goldene Europa" from 1968 is the work of sculptor Herbert Strässer. The award was originally designed with the aim of launching the careers of German artists and producers with their music facing strong competition from the United States and United Kingdom. Therefore, in the early years only German-language hits were awarded. From 1979, the leadership decided to allow foreign artists to win the Goldene Europa reward. In later years, the Goldene Europa was also awarded in other areas such as comedy, entertainment, politics, sports or drama.
