Chong Yee-Voon
Chong Yee-Voon (; Pha̍k-fa-sṳ: ''Chûng Yì-vùn'', Kampar, Perak, February 13, 1969) is a Malaysian writer in the Chinese language. She is professor of the Department of Chinese Linguistics and Literature in Yuan Ze University, Taiwan. She studied at the National Taiwan Normal University. Pha̍k-fa-sṳ
Pha̍k-fa-sṳ is an orthography similar to Pe̍h-ōe-jī and used to write Hakka, a variety of Chinese. Hakka is a whole branch of Chinese, and Hakka dialects are not necessarily mutually intelligible with each other, considering the large geographical region. This article discusses a specific variety of Hakka. The orthography was invented by the Presbyterian church in the 19th century. The Hakka New Testament published in 1924 is written in this system. Writing system Pha̍k-fa-sṳ uses a modified Latin alphabet (an additional double-dotted ṳ for the close central unrounded vowel //) and some diacritics for tones. A single hyphen is added to indicate a compound. Kampar, Perak
Kampar ( Jawi: كمڤر, nicknamed ''Education City'') is the largest town of the eponymous Kampar District, Perak, Malaysia. Founded in 1887, the town lies within the Kinta Valley, an area rich with tin reserves. It was a tin mining town which boomed during the height of the tin mining industry. Many tin towns were established in the late 19th century, flourished in the 1900s, only to stagnate and decline after World War I, with the exception of an exhilarating boom in the 1920s. Most have closed down following the collapse of the industry, especially in the late 20th century. Kampar is 33 km south of the state capital Ipoh, well connected by both national highway 1 and railway. Geography Kampar is situated in the Kinta Valley, which was well known for its high tin ore reserves. Chan Tah Wei
Chan Tah Wei (; born 28 September 1969) is a Malaysian Chinese poet, prose writer and academic. He is currently teaching at the National Taiwan University. Early life and education Chan was born in Ipoh, Malaysia on 28 September 1969. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Chinese from National Taiwan University and Master of Philosophy in Chinese from Soochow University. He then obtained his Doctor of Philosophy from National Taiwan Normal University, and taught at Nanya Institute of Technology and Yuan Ze University, before returning to National Taiwan University as assistant professor. Writings Chan mainly writes Modern Chinese poetries and had been receiving awards since his university years.
