Chinese People In Costa Rica
Chinese people have been immigrating to Costa Rica since the mid-nineteenth century. They come from China, The People's Republic of China (including the enclaves of Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong and Macao), and from Taiwan. The Sino-Costa Rican community is of great cultural, economic and social importance. It is one of the main Chinese communities in American Hemisphere, America, in the Caribbean Basin it is only surpassed by that of Panama, with around 9,000 citizens living in the country (according to the 2011 census). This migratory phenomenon presents peaks of waves since the 1850s. Guangzhou (, ; ; or ; ), also known as Canton () and alternatively romanized as Kwongchow or Kwangchow, is the capital and largest city of Guangdong province in southern China. Cheng Siu Chung
Cheng Siu Chung (; born 29 September 1972 in Hong Kong) is a Hong Kong football manager and former professional player. He is currently the head coach of Hong Kong Premier League club Southern. He served as a commentator for the 2010 FIFA World Cup for the Cantonese subscription television network, Astro Wah Lai Toi. Eduardo Li
Eduardo Li Sánchez (, born 11 November 1958) is a Costa Rican football administrator, FIFA executive committee member-elect, CONCACAF executive committee member, and former Costa Rican Football Federation (FEDEFUT) president. He co-founded Puntarenas F.C. with Adrián Castro Velásquez in June 2004. His paternal Chinese grandfather immigrated to Costa Rica in 1920. Li is involved in the 2015 FIFA corruption case, and was arrested in May 2015 in Switzerland to face corruption charges in the US. Li was banned by FIFA Ethics Committee. On 18 December 2015, he was extradited to the United States. In October 2016 Li pleaded guilty to three charges in the Federal Courthouse in Brooklyn, New York. Paseo de los Estudiantes ("''Students Walkway''" in English) is an urban area in San José, Costa Rica, the capital of Costa Rica. The area began to develop as a commercial center during the last decades of the twentieth century, basically with the advent of supermarkets, shops and some restaurants whose owners are Chinese. Cantonese People
The Cantonese people () or Yue people (), are a Yue-speaking Han Chinese subgroup originating from or residing in the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi (collectively known as Liangguang), in Southern Mainland China. Although more accurately, "Cantonese" refers only to Han Chinese with roots from Guangzhou and its satellite cities and towns, rather than simply and generally referring to the people of the Liangguang region. Zhongshan
Zhongshan (; ) is a prefecture-level city in the south of the Pearl River Delta in Guangdong province, China. As of the 2020 census, the whole city with 4,418,060 inhabitants is now part of the Guangzhou–Shenzhen conurbation with 65,565,622 inhabitants.
