China Railways 25G Rolling Stock
China Railways 25G rolling stock (), or China Railways 25 improved rolling stock () is a series of passenger carriages built in China. The carriages run services in mainland China, and on the Trans-siberian railway for international services to Moscow. They are also exported to Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway, Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway and Guinea railways, and also to be exported to Swedish state railways (intended to replace SJ 1960-series coaches) and Uganda Standard Gauge railways. Development After the success of building the China Railways 25A rolling stocks, the Railway Bureau of China (now China Railway) decided to develop a new type of "Upgraded 25.5 metre sized air-conditioned and non air-conditioned passenger coaches" (升级换代产品 25.5米空调和非空调客车). Green-skinned Train
The terms green-skinned train and green train ( zh, s=绿皮车, p=lǜpíchē, l=green skin carriage) refer to a type of design which used to be the mainstay of the passenger railway fleets of China and other communist countries during the Cold War. These words carry connotations of slow travel on old vehicles with few amenities, most notably lacking air conditioning. Despite these connotations, some newer trains have been painted green for nostalgic purposes. Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway
The Addis Ababa–Djibouti Railway (; , , ) is a new standard gauge international railway that serves as the backbone of the new Ethiopian National Railway Network. The railway was inaugurated by Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn on January 1, 2018. It provides landlocked Ethiopia with access to the sea, linking Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa with Djibouti and its Port of Doraleh. More than 95% of Ethiopia's trade passes through Djibouti, accounting for 70% of the activity at the Port of Djibouti. The total railway capacity is 24.9 million tonnes of freight annually, with 6 million tonnes annually expected in 2023. The Automatic Warning System (AWS) was introduced in the 1950s in the United Kingdom to provide a train driver with an audible warning and visual reminder that they were approaching a distant signal at caution. The Beijing–Kowloon railway, also known as the Jingjiu railway () is a railway connecting Beijing West railway station in Beijing to Shenzhen railway station in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. The K series () is a train service speed level by China Railway. K stands for "''kuaisu''" (high-speed). However, they are likely to be the most commonly seen trains in China. Those trains make less stops than the number-only trains, but run at the same speed as them. For this, the K-series are sometimes mentioned as "''Keng''" (a scam) by Chinese Railfans. Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway
The Mombasa–Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway is a standard-gauge railway (SGR) in Kenya that connects the large Indian Ocean city of Mombasa with Nairobi, the country's capital and largest city. This SGR runs parallel to the narrow-gauge Uganda Railway that was completed in 1901 under British colonial rule. The East African Railway Master Plan provides for the Mombasa–Nairobi SGR to link with other SGRs being built in the East African Community.
