Chin Harn Tong
Chin Harn Tong ''alias'' Chee Han Tong (; born 8 September 1937) is a former Singaporean politician. A member of the ruling People's Action Party, Chin was a Member of parliament, Member of Parliament for Aljunied Single Member Constituency, Aljunied SMC and later Aljunied Group Representation Constituency, Aljunied GRC. In 1996, Chin retired from politics after 24 years. Early life Chin was born into a Hainanese family. He was a teacher at now-defunct List of primary schools in Singapore, Kiau Nam School between 1957 and 1961, and briefly taught at Zhonghua Secondary School, Chung Hwa Girls' High School in 1964. He was awarded the Pingat Pentadbiran Awam, Public Administration Medal (Bronze) and the Friend of Labour Award by National Trades Union Congress, NTUC in 1971. Qian (; Shanghainese: ), also spelt Chin, Chien, Tsien, or Zee in Wu Chinese, is a common Chinese family name. The name literally means "money". Zhonghua Secondary School (ZHSS) is a co-educational government autonomous secondary school in Serangoon, Singapore. Founded in 1911 as Chung Hwa Girls' High School, the school has retained its Chinese heritage despite transforming into an English-medium government school in 1990. 1984 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 22 December 1984. President of Singapore, President Devan Nair dissolved parliament on 4 December 1984 on the advice of Prime Minister of Singapore, Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
