The Chief of Policy and Plans Department ( sv, Chefen för ledningsstabens inriktningsavdelning, C LEDS INRI) is the head of the Policy and Plans Department in the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters#Defence Staff, Defence Staff at the Swedish Armed Forces Headquarters. The Chief of Policy and Plans Department is part of the Defence Board (''Försvarsmaktsledningen'', FML), a group of the Supreme Commander of the Swedish Armed Forces, Supreme Commander's top commanders. Major General (MajGen) ( sv, Generalmajor, Genmj) is a two-star commissioned officer rank in the Swedish Army, Swedish Air Force and Swedish Amphibious Corps. History Svea Life Guards dates back to the year 1521, when the men of Dalarna chose 16 young able men as body guards for the insurgent nobleman Gustav Vasa in the Swedish War of Liberation against the Danish-dominated Union of Kalmar, thus making the present-day Life Guards one of the world's oldest regiments still on active duty. The Amphibious Corps ( sv, Amfibiekåren, Amf) is the maritime land force arm of the Swedish Navy, with an emphasis on coastal defence. Until 2000 it was known as the Coastal Artillery ( sv, Kustartilleriet), but the name was changed to reflect its different role in a post-Cold War world, where its amphibious special operations arm, Kustjägarna, has grown in significance while its coastal batteries have been decommissioned. Lieutenant General Leif ''Michael'' Claesson (born 1 March 1965) is a Swedish Army officer. He served as the Chief of Policy and Plans Department in the Defence Staff from 2018 to 2020. Major General Mats Erik Engman (born 13 April 1954) is a retired officer in the Swedish Air Force. Engman has served as Deputy Director of Military Intelligence & Security, as Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans Department and as head of the Swedish delegation to the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) in Korea.
