	Chețani Chețani ( hu, Maroskece, Hungarian pronunciation: ) is a commune in Mureș County, Transylvania, Romania. Its population was 2,857 in 2002. It is composed of seven villages: Chețani, Coasta Grindului (''Berekszéle''), Cordoș (''Kardos''), Giurgiș (''Györgyed''), Grindeni (''Gerendkeresztúr''), Hădăreni (''Hadrév'') and Linț (''Lincitanyák''). 	Aurel Pantea Aurel Pantea (; born 10 March 1952) is a Romanian poet and literary critic. Born in Chețani, Mureș County into a family of peasants, Pantea attended the Faculty of Letters of the Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj, graduating in 1976. During the university years he collaborated with the magazine ''Equinox''. After graduation, he taught at Borșa and Alba Iulia. Since 1989 he is the director of the magazine ''Vatra'', and since 1990 he is the director of the magazine ''Discobolul''. 	1993 Hădăreni Riots The 1993 Hădăreni riots were a series of riots in the village of Hădăreni, Mureș County, Romania, involving Romanians and Hungarians on the one side against Roma on the other side, ending with three (or four, according to some sources) Roma being murdered. The riots On 20 September 1993, a group of Roma had an argument with an elderly Romanian. When his son arrived to rescue the father, one of the Roma stabbed the younger Romanian to death. The Roma then sought refuge in a house where they locked themselves in. The Romanians demanded they leave the house and render themselves to police. As the Roma refused to come out of the house, the Romanian and Hungarian villagers, including the local police commander and one of his officers, gathered outside, sprayed the house with gasoline and set it on fire.
