Chennaiyin Football Club is an Indian professional Association football, football club based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The club competes in the Indian Super League, the top flight of Football in India, Indian football. The club was founded in August 2014 during the 2014 Indian Super League season, inaugural season of the Indian Super League. One of the most successful clubs in the history of the league, it has won the Indian Super League title on two occasions, in the 2015 Indian Super League season, 2015 and 2017–18 Indian Super League season, 2017–18 seasons respectively. The club is owned by Vita Dani, Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan and India national cricket team, Indian cricketer MS Dhoni. 2017–18 Indian Super League Season
The 2017–18 Indian Super League season was the fourth season of the Indian Super League, one of the top Indian professional association football, football leagues. It was established in 2013. The regular season started on 17 November 2017 and ended on 4 March 2018, 2017–18 Indian Super League finals, The finals began on 7 March 2018, concluding with 2018 Indian Super League Final, the final on 17 March 2018. 2015 Indian Super League Season
The 2015 Hero Indian Super League was the second season of the Indian Super League, a professional football league played in India since 2014. The season features eight teams. The regular season kicked off on 3 October and ended on 6 December, while the finals began on 11 December, which will conclude with the final match on 20 December. The defending champions Atlético de Kolkata were eliminated in the semi-finals by Chennaiyin FC. The final was played between Goa and Chennaiyin on 20 December 2015 at the Fatorda Stadium in Goa. 2018–19 Indian Super League Season
The 2018–19 Indian Super League season was the fifth season of the Indian Super League, one of the top Indian professional football leagues. It was established in 2013. The regular season began on 29 September 2018 and concluded on 17 March 2019. The league took a mid-season break for around one month from 17 December 2018 to early January 2019 due to India's participation in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. Chennaiyin were the defending champions, having defeated Bengaluru in the 2018 final, however they did not qualify for the playoffs having finished the last in the regular season. Bengaluru FC won their maiden title by defeating FC Goa 1–0 in the final which was held on 17 March 2019. Indian Super League
The Indian Super League (ISL) is an Indian professional league for men's association football clubs. At the top of the Indian football league system, it is the country's primary football competition. Organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF), and their commercial partners Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), it is officially known as Hero Indian Super League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp. The league currently comprises 11 clubs. Each season of the tournament generally runs from October to March. During the league stage of the competition, each club plays against all the other clubs in a round-robin style. The 2014 Hero Indian Super League was the first season of the Indian Super League, the top flight football league of India. The season featured eight teams, each playing 14 matches during the regular season. The regular season started on 12 October when Atlético de Kolkata defeated Mumbai City 3–0 at the Salt Lake Stadium. The season ended on 20 December when Atlético de Kolkata defeated the Kerala Blasters in the final 1–0. Mohammed Rafique was the lone goalscorer as the Kolkata club became the inaugural champions. Chennaiyin FC Reserves And Academy
Chennaiyin Football Club Reserves and Academy also known as Chennaiyin FC B is the youth system of Indian Super League side Chennaiyin. Based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, the reserve side was founded on 12 January 2018 and participated in I-League 2nd Division, the second division of Indian football. Club's academy teams were founded on 28 August 2017 and under 18 side participates in Youth League U18, the highest level for youth football in India. They also sometimes join the Chennai Football League. The reserve side is currently coached by Cleofas Alex, who also runs all of the youth development for Chennaiyin.
