Marina Arena, also known as Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Chennai, India. The stadium is located at Sydenhams Road in Park Town, Chennai, Park Town besides the Moore Market Complex, Chennai Central suburban railway station. It has a capacity of 40,000. In 1946, the Corporation Stadium was built in a portion of the land occupied by the People's Park, Chennai, People's Park in Central Chennai, Central Madras. The stadium hosted nine test cricket matches between 1956 and 1965. The stadium was refurbished in 1993 and was named after India's first Prime Minister of India, Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Indian Women's League
The Indian Women's League (abbreviated as the IWL) is the women's top tier professional football league in India, founded in 2016. Currently, a total of 8 teams from across the country participate in the league. The competition was planned since 2014 and got established in 2016, with the first season starting from October 2016 in Cuttack, Odisha. The league was launched as India's first professional football league for women with the aim to increase the player pool for India national team. The Indian Super League (ISL) is a professional association football league in India and the highest level of the Indian football league system. Administered by the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and its commercial partner Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the league is currently contested by 14 clubs.
