Cheng-sheng Lin
Lin Cheng-sheng (; born 31 March 1959) is a Taiwanese film director. His 1997 film ''Sweet Degeneration'' was entered into the 48th Berlin International Film Festival. He won the Silver Bear for Best Director for ''Betelnut Beauty'' in 2001. Taitung City
Taitung City () is a county-administered city and the county seat of Taitung County, Taiwan. It lies on the southeast coast of Taiwan facing the Pacific Ocean. Taitung City is the most populous subdivision of Taitung County and it is one of the major cities on the east coast of the island. Taitung City is served by Taitung Airport. Taitung is a gateway to Green Island and Orchid Island, both of which are popular tourist destinations. It is a sarcastic comedy set in the early 1960s about a Sino-American joint military exercise in a small village in southern Taiwan. Tropical Fish () is a 1995 Taiwanese comedy-drama film written and directed by Chen Yu-hsun. It is an example of New Taiwanese Cinema. Plot The movie tells the story of Liu Chih-chiang (劉志強, played by Lin Chia-hung 嘉宏, a disaffected Taipei high school student who is kidnapped and taken by Ah Ching (阿慶, played by the filmmaker Lin Cheng-sheng) to rural Chiayi County in southern Taiwan. Locations Chih-chiang's school scenes were filmed at Bailing Senior High School (百齡高中) in Shilin, Taipei, while several other scenes were filmed in Daan District. The kidnappers hold Chih-chiang in Dongshi, a coastal Chiayi County township noted for its oyster production. The end of the film shows the business district of Dunhua Road in Taipei. ''March of Happiness'' is a 1999 Taiwanese film directed by Lin Cheng-sheng. It tells the story of a teenage romance in a performing troupe set against the backdrop of the Japanese occupation and the 228 Massacre. Several characters are either historical or based on historical people. The film was Taiwan's official Best Foreign Language Film submission at the 72nd Academy Awards, but did not manage to receive a nomination.* The film was also screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 1999 Cannes Film Festival. There are two slightly different versions. In the TV version shown on Formosa Television, the film ends with both protagonists singing the theme song together, even though the male protagonist was already dead.
