Charlie Luken
Charles John Luken (born July 18, 1951, in Cincinnati, Ohio) is an American politician of the United States Democratic Party, Democratic party who was List of Mayors of Cincinnati, Ohio, mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, and served in the Ohio's 1st congressional district in the United States House of Representatives. Luken, who is divorced, has three children. When Luken left office at the end of 2005, he was the longest serving mayor in Cincinnati's history with 12 years and one month of service in that role. Early career Luken earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame (Indiana) in 1973. He then entered law school at the University of Cincinnati College of Law, earning his degree in 1976, after which he started practicing law. 2001 Cincinnati Riots
The 2001 Cincinnati riots were a series of civil disorders which took place in and around the Over-the-Rhine neighborhood of downtown Cincinnati, Ohio from April 9 to 13, 2001. They began with a peaceful protest in the heart of the city on Fountain Square over the inadequate police response to the police shooting of unarmed African American 19-year-old Timothy Thomas. The peaceful protest soon turned into a march that went in the direction of the victim's home neighborhood of Over-the-Rhine. Courtis John Fuller (born 26 January 1957) is a news broadcaster in Cincinnati, Ohio, who is active in politics and in local community affairs. Fuller is an on-air personality at WLWT-TV. Ohio's 1st congressional district is represented by Republican Steve Chabot. This district includes the western four-fifths of Cincinnati, and borders both Kentucky and Indiana. This district was once represented by President William Henry Harrison. Since redistricting in 2010, the district was widely seen as heavily gerrymandered by state Republicans to protect the incumbent, Steve Chabot. James T. Luken (December 31, 1921 – July 12, 1979) was an American politician and labor union leader of the Democratic party, who served as mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio, in the 1970s. Luken was a local leader of the Milk Driver's Union, a subsidiary of the Teamsters. Luken was one of the few Teamsters who stood up to the corrupt leadership of Teamsters President Jimmy Hoffa. The University of Cincinnati College of Law was founded in 1833 as the Cincinnati Law School. It is the fourth oldest continuously running law school in the United States — after Harvard, the University of Virginia, and Yale — and the first in the nation's interior.
