Charkhi Dadri District
Charkhi Dadri District is one of the 22 districts of Haryana state in north west India near Rajasthan border, but not sharing border with Rajasthan. Created on 1 December 2016, the district headquarters is the city of Charkhi Dadri. History British colonial era During British raj, Charkhi Dadri was a princely state with an area of 575sq miles and revenue of Rs 103,000 annually. In Indian Rebellion of 1857, the Nawab of Dadri, Bahadur Jung Khan who had given token allegiance to mughal emperor Bahadur Shah Zafar, surrendered to British and tried by military court martial in Delhi on 27 November 1857. He was removed to Lahore. Dadri was awarded to Raja Swarup Singh of Jind State of the Phulkian dynasty for his services to British East India Company in the 1857 war. Phulkian Sardars
The Phulkian (or Phoolkian) Maharajas were Jat-Sikh rulers and aristocrats in the Punjab region of India. They governed the states of Faridkot, Jind, Nabha, Malaudh and Patiala, allying themselves with the British Raj as per the Cis-Sutlej treaty. Lineage The rulers of the Phulkian states shared a common ancestor, the 18th-century Chaudhary Phul Singh Sidhu-Brar. Chaudhary Phul was born in 1629, to Chaudhary Rup Chand and Mat Ambi. He lived through the times of Guru Hargobind Ji, the sixth guru of the Sikh religion as well as Guru Har Rai Ji , the seventh Guru. The legends of Phul say that Chaudhary Phul Singh was given blessings from both Guru Hargobind Ji and Guru Har Rai Ji. Guru Hargobind Ji declared that Phul would have many "blossoms" like a flower (Phul or "phool" is a Punjabi word for flower). Phogat Sisters
The Phogat sisters are six sisters from Haryana, India, all of whom are wrestlers. In order of their birth, they are Geeta, Babita, Priyanka, Ritu, Vinesh, and Sangeeta. While Geeta, Babita, Ritu, and Sangeeta are daughters of former wrestler and coach Mahavir Singh Phogat, Priyanka and Vinesh were brought up by Mahavir after their father, who is the younger brother of Mahavir, died when they were young. Mahavir trained all six of them in wrestling in their home village of Balali in Bhiwani district. Three of the Phogat sisters, Geeta, Babita, and Vinesh, are gold medalists in different weight categories at the Commonwealth Games, while Priyanka has won a silver medal at the Asian Championships. Chandrawati
Chandrawati (3 September 1928 – 15 November 2020) was an Indian politician. Early life She was born in 1928, in Dalawas village, Bhiwani district, East Punjab. Her father, Hazarilal Sheoran, served in the Indian Army. Political career She was the first woman member of Haryana Vidhan Sabha and also the first woman member of parliament from Haryana. She was Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from 19 February 1990 to 18 December 1990. Earlier, she was a minister (1964–66 and 1972–74) in the Government of Haryana. In 1977, she was elected to the 6th Lok Sabha as MP for the Bhiwani constituency as a Janata Party candidate, defeating Defense Minister Bansi Lal. She died on 15 November 2020. Census Of India
The decennial Census of India has been conducted 16 times, as of 2021. While it has been undertaken every 10 years, beginning in 1872 under British Viceroy Lord Mayo, the first complete census was taken in 1881. Post 1949, it has been conducted by the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India under the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India. All the censuses since 1951 were conducted under the 1948 Census of India Act. The last census was held in 2011, whilst the next was to be held in 2021. Haryanvi ( ' or '), also known as Bangru, is an Indo-Aryan language spoken in the state of Haryana in India, and to a lesser extent in Delhi. Haryanvi is considered to be part of the dialect group of Western Hindi, which also includes Khariboli and Braj. It is written in the Devanagari script. In popular culture Bollywood films like Dangal, Sultan, and Tanu Weds Manu: Returns have used the Haryanvi culture and language as the backdrop of their films.
