Wushu (sport)
''Wushu'' (), or ''Kung fu'', is a hard and soft and complete martial art, as well as a full-contact combat sport. It has a long history in reference to Chinese martial arts. It was developed in 1949 in an effort to standardize the practice of traditional Chinese martial arts, yet attempts to structure the various decentralized martial arts traditions date back earlier, when the Central Guoshu Institute was established at Nanking in 1928. Lotus Kick
The lotus kick, also known as the jump outside or Téng Kōng Bǎi Lián is a popular jump in modern wushu taolu. Execution Running The jump involves performing an outside kick (Bǎi Lián Pāi Jiǎo) in the air while spinning. The original method, seen in early modern changquan routines, includes a running setup into a jump on the right leg. While the right leg pushes upwards, the left leg either bends into a knee-raised position or to an extended position. During this, the right leg performs the outside kick in the air. After the kick, the performer has the option to either land on the left leg first or with both legs at the same time. Butterfly Kick
A butterfly kick or horse kick (xuànzi 旋子 circle) is a jumping kick in martial arts such as modern wushu and taekwondo and capoeira. In certain changquan styles, this kick is known as Swallow Kick (Yianzi tui). Although the specific nature of the kick varies, it is generally composed of a twist of the body while both legs are lifted from the ground and swung around, while the torso remains as horizontal as possible. In action cinema it is often seen as a kick used to "cut a swathe" through multiple opponents. In traditional Chinese longfist, it is used defensively to evade an opponent's floor sweep and land on the enemy's vulnerable side. Sanda (), formerly Sanshou (), also known as Chinese boxing or Chinese kickboxing, is the official Chinese kickboxing full-contact combat sport. Fānziquán (; literally "Rotating fist") is a Chinese martial art that emphasizes offense and defense with the hands. Qinna () is the set of joint lock techniques used in the Chinese martial arts to control or lock an opponent's joints or muscles/tendons so they cannot move, thus neutralizing the opponent's fighting ability. ''Qinna Shu'' ( meaning "technique") literally translates as ''lock catch technique''. Some schools simply use the word ''na'' ("hold") to describe the techniques.
