Chabot Museum
The Chabot Museum () is a museum dedicated to the Dutch painter and sculptor Hendrik Chabot in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. The museum is housed in a monumental villa in the Museumpark, near the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and the Netherlands Architecture Institute. History The museum opened in 1993. As of 2016 the Chabot Museum awards the Hendrik Chabot Prijs, an award for visual arts, which was originally created by the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds. Building The Chabot Museum is located at the Museumpark in Rotterdam Centrum, between the Netherlands Architecture Institute and the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen. It is housed in a white villa designed in 1938 for C. H. Kraaijeveld in the style of New Objectivity by architects Gerrit Willem Baas, a former employee of Brinkman and Van der Vlugt, and Leonard Stokla, a former bureau chief of Kromhout. Museumpark
Museumpark is an urban park in Rotterdam, Netherlands, located between the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Westersingel, Westzeedijk and the complex of the Erasmus MC, a medical centre affiliated with the Erasmus University. The park lies on the former land of the Hoboken family, who lived in the building that is since 1987 the Natuurhistorisch Museum Rotterdam. The park was laid out in 1927 to the design of the architect Witteveen. On the south side of the pond in the park a monument for Gerrit Jongh, director of municipal works in Rotterdam. There are several artworks in the park, so it also serves as a sculpture garden. Johannes Brinkman
Johannes Andreas Brinkman (22 March 1902 – 6 May 1949), also known as Jan Brinkman, was a Dutch architect and exponent of '' Nieuwe Bouwen'', modern architecture in the Netherlands. Biography Brinkman was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, in 1902. He was the son of architect Michiel Brinkman (1873–1925), who established a firm in Rotterdam in 1910 and was known for designing the Spangen neighborhood of Rotterdam in 1922. Johannes studied civil engineering at the Delft University of Technology ( nl, Technische Universiteit Delft). After Michiel's death in 1925, Johannes took charge of the father's architectural firm and entered into a partnership with architect Leendert van der Vlugt. A rijksmonument (, ) is a national heritage site of the Netherlands, listed by the agency Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed (RCE) acting for the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science. At the end of February 2015, the Netherlands had 61,822 listed national heritage sites, of which approximately 1,500 are listed as archaeological sites. History and criteria Until 2012, a place had to be over 50 years old to be eligible for designation. This criterion expired on 1 January 2012. Leendert Van Der Vlugt
Leendert Cornelis van der Vlugt (13 April 1894 – 25 April 1936) was a Dutch architect in Rotterdam. In the architects office Brinkman & Van der Vlugt he was responsible for the architecture of the Van Nelle Factory, a listed monument of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014. After the death of the Rotterdam architect Michiel Brinkman in 1925, his son Johannes Brinkman, a constructional engineer, took over the architectural office and made Leendert van der Vlugt co-director. The new practice was called J.A. Brinkman & L.C. van der Vlugt, (Vlugt pronounced as "Vlücht").
