Cavan Intermediate Football Championship
The Cavan Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the middle-tier Gaelic football clubs organised by Cavan GAA. It was first competed for in 1915, before a lapse prior to being revived in 1966. The winners qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The 2022 champions are Castlerahan who beat Ballyhaise in the final. Format 14 teams will contest the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Football Championship. The I.F.C. shall be run on a league basis up to the Quarter-Final stage and Knock-out thereafter. Each team will play 4 rounds in the league phase against different opponents with the fixtures decided by a random draw at the conclusion of each round. 2022 Cavan Intermediate Football Championship
The 2022 Cavan Intermediate Football Championship was the 58th edition of Cavan GAA's premier Gaelic football tournament for intermediate graded clubs in County Cavan, Ireland. The tournament consists of 14 teams, with the winner representing Cavan in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship. The championship starts with a league stage and then progresses to a knock out stage. Castlerahan returned to the senior grade at the first time of asking, beating Ballyhaise by a goal in the final. CLG Cuchulainn
CLG Cúchulainn, also known as Cúchulainn's are a Gaelic football club from Mullagh, County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History 1970's From the inception of the club, on Thursday 18 December 1969, CLG Cuchulainn made its presence felt in Division 1 of the Cavan senior league and senior championship. In the first round of the 1970 Cavan senior championship, Cuchulainns beat Cornafean after a replay. The club's participation in its initial championship came to an end when beaten by Baileborough on a score line of 0–9 to 0–8 at the quarter-final stage of the championship in Breffni Park, on Sunday 30 August 1970. In May 1971 Cuchulainns met the vastly more experienced Crosserlough in the 1970 league final. Lavey GFC (Cavan)
Lavey are a Gaelic football club from County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated with Cavan GAA. The parish of Lavey (formerly also transcribed as "Lavay" or "Lowey"; from the Gaelic "Leamhach", a place producing elm trees") is in the barony of Upper Loughtee, County Cavan, between Stradone and Ballyjamesduff, near Virginia. History Lavey won the Cavan Junior Football Championship for the very first time in 1950, but the final wasn't played until 1951. Later the same year, the club won the Cavan Senior Football Championship for the only time in the club's history. Bailieboro Shamrocks Gaelic Athletic Association (also spelled ''Bailieborough'') is a Gaelic football, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Bailieborough, County Cavan in Ireland. History The club was founded under the name ''Bailieborough Home Rulers'' (named after the Irish Home Rule movement) in 1886. In the first County Championship game in January 1887, Ballyconnell First Ulsters met the Bailieborough Home Rulers. The Home Rulers left Bailieborough at four in the morning and brought the goal posts on a horse and spring cart. The First Ulsters and Home Rulers erected goalposts in a field outside Cavan Town. A Royal Irish Constabulary force warned them they were breaking the Sunday Observance Act; they played on regardless. Gowna GFC
Gowna are a Gaelic football club based in the village of Loch Gowna, County Cavan, Ireland. History GAA has been present in the local Gowna area since as early as 1889 and the club went under the name of Scrabby West Breffnians or 'Breffnies' as they were otherwise known. Gowna's first major football success came in 1916 in the form of a junior championship. Gowna GFC, as we know it today, was officially reformed in 1976 and has gone through some major developmental change. The 'post reform' park was officially opened in 1982 and was revamped in 2011 to stand as it is today. Laragh United GFC
Laragh United are a Gaelic football club from Laragh and Stradone, County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History In 1972 two local teams Laragh and Stradone amalgamated under the name St Brigid's for the Cavan Senior Football Championship. They reached the final, losing to the great seven-in-a-row Crosserlough. The success united the parish and in 1973 they came together under one name Laragh United. The club has the distinction (along with another Cavan club, Ramor United) of being one of the few GAA clubs with the suffix United. Mullahoran GAA
Mullahoran GAA is a Gaelic games club from County Cavan in Ireland. Founded in 1888, it is affiliated to Cavan GAA. The club's nickname is ''the Dreadnoughts''. It is a rural club located in the parish of Mullahoran in south Cavan, approximately 10 miles from Cavan town. Gaelic football, rounders, hurling and handball are played at the club and numerous county and national honours have been won in the past in these codes. Cootehill Celtic GAA
Cootehill Celtic is a Gaelic games club from County Cavan in Ireland. It is affiliated to Cavan GAA. It fields teams at every age group in both Gaelic football and hurling and is the only dual club in county Cavan. The Club has recently registered with the LGFA and now has Girls from U-8 to U-14 teams. Drumgoon are a Gaelic football club from County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History Originated as Bough Shamrocks in 1904, Drumgoon evolved as the parish team, then as the rural parish team, taking the name of Drumgoon in the 1920s. They contested their first Cavan Senior Football Championship Final in 1927, and were defeated by Cavan Slashers. They adopted the title of Drumgoon Éire Óg in 1984. Killygarry GAA
Killygarry are a Gaelic football club from County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History The Killygarry club area as it now stands had a football club down the years before the formation of the present club in 1966 but these teams went out of existence. Still the Killygarry area produced many players for neighbouring clubs (and county too). There were schoolboy football games between Killygarry, Crubany, Castletara and Swellan played at venues such as Crowe's Rock or behind Fitzpatrick's shop. These were played several times a year and continued at various age levels to eighteen or so. Around the late 50s/early 60s a number of promising minor players were coming along and the idea of playing for a club team under the Killygarry name was tossed around.
