Drumgoon GFC
Drumgoon are a Gaelic football club from County Cavan in Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. History Originated as Bough Shamrocks in 1904, Drumgoon evolved as the parish team, then as the rural parish team, taking the name of Drumgoon in the 1920s. They contested their first Cavan Senior Football Championship Final in 1927, and were defeated by Cavan Slashers. They adopted the title of Drumgoon Éire Óg in 1984. In 2000 Drumgoon lost the Cavan Junior Football Championship to Cornafean but a year later in 2001 Drumgoon won their first Championship winning the Cavan Junior Football Championship, beating Kildallon 1–10 to 0–07. They went on to win the Ulster Junior Club Football Championship beating Doohmalet of Monaghan and then the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship beating Belmullet of Mayo 1–14 to 0–12. Cootehill
Cootehill (; ) is a market town and townland in County Cavan, Ireland. Cootehill was formerly part of the neighbouring townland of Munnilly. Both townlands lie within the barony of Tullygarvey. The English language name of the town is a portmanteau of "Coote" and "Hill", the family names of a local 18th century landowning family. Name The town's Irish name, ''Muinchille'', derives from the Irish language term meaning a ridge or "sleeve". The town's name in English, Cootehill, is a portmanteau attributed to the intermarriage of the landowning Coote and Hill families in the early 1700s. This involved the marriage of Thomas Coote (c. 1620–25 Nov 1671) and Frances Hill from Hillsborough, County Down, who were involved in the linen trade. Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship
The Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship is an annual Gaelic football tournament played between the hundreds of intermediate football clubs in Ulster. There are nine county championships between the nine counties of Ulster. The nine winners go on to play each other in the Ulster Club Championship in a knock-out format. The winners go on to compete with the Connacht, Leinster, Munster and London champions in the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The prize for the winners is the McCully Cup, named in honour of Clontibret O'Neills stalwart Packie McCully. Cavan Intermediate Football Championship
The Cavan Intermediate Football Championship is an annual Gaelic Athletic Association competition between the middle-tier Gaelic football clubs organised by Cavan GAA. It was first competed for in 1915, before a lapse prior to being revived in 1966. The winners qualify to represent their county in the Ulster Intermediate Club Football Championship and in turn, go on to the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship. The 2022 champions are Castlerahan who beat Ballyhaise in the final. Format 14 teams will contest the Hotel Kilmore Intermediate Football Championship. The I.F.C. shall be run on a league basis up to the Quarter-Final stage and Knock-out thereafter. Denn GFC
Denn, Daniel O'Connells GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Crosskeys, County Cavan, Ireland. They are affiliated to Cavan GAA. The club was founded in 1969 by Mikey McCabe following the merging of the two clubs in the parish, Drumavaddy & Crosskeys. Despite some near misses in the 70's success didn't arrive until the 80's when in 1982, Denn won the ACFL Div 3 league, the first adult county title to be won by the club. Two years later in centenary year Denn won their first ever championship, beating Mountnugent in the Junior decider. In 1986 Denn won promotion from Div 2 and in 1987 would play at the top tier of football in Cavan for the first time. The All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship is a Gaelic football competition which began in 2002 and is played by the junior club champions of each county. Prior to that a number of unofficial competitions were held. The winners of each county's junior football championship compete in four provincial championships. The four provincial winners compete in the All Ireland. Ardfert Gaa, Ardfert, a club from Kerry, made history when they won the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship in 2006 and then won the All-Ireland Intermediate Club Football Championship in 2007. Kerry clubs have enjoyed the most success, with ten clubs winning the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship since its official inauguration in 2004. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. Cornafean is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the rural parishes of Killeshandra and Kilmore, in County Cavan, Ireland. The club plays Gaelic Football and competes in Cavan GAA competitions. Cornafean is the most successful club in Cavan, having won 20 Cavan Senior Football Championships.
