Cathy Shaw
Catherine "Cathy" Shaw (née Pidzarko; born c. 1953) is a Canadian curler, originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. While attending Miles Macdonell Collegiate, Shaw and her twin sister, Chris won three straight provincial junior championships (1972–1974) and won two Canadian Junior Curling Championships (1972 & 1974). Shaw played third on the team that was skipped by her sister. In 1978, Shaw skipped a team which included her sister at third, Iris Armstrong at second and Patti Vande at lead which won the Manitoba Lassie provincial championship and then won the 1978 Macdonald Lassies Championship, the national women's curling championship at the time. Shaw moved to Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and won the territorial championship in 1980 playing with Donna Alexander, Lee Brooks and Marilyn Paradis. Scotties Tournament Of Hearts
The Scotties Tournament of Hearts (''french: Le Tournoi des Cœurs Scotties''; commonly referred to as the Scotties) is the annual Canadian women's curling championship, sanctioned by Curling Canada, formerly called the Canadian Curling Association. The winner goes on to represent Canada at the women's World Curling Championships, world curling championships. Since 1985, the winner also gets to return to the following year's tournament as "Team Canada". It is formally known as the "Canadian Women's Curling Championship". Penny LaRocque
Penny LaRocque (born ca. 1943 in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia) is a Canadian retired curler from Halifax, Nova Scotia. She is a former Canadian champion skip, and world championship bronze medallist. She retired from curling in 2007. Career LaRocque has won five provincial women's championships, five provincial mixed titles, and seven provincial seniors titles. Her first provincial title came in 1974, playing second for the Joyce Myers rink, and went 2-7 at the 1974 Macdonald Lassies Championship.. Her second title came in 1978, where she skipped the Nova Scotia rink to a 2nd place finish at the 1978 Macdonald Lassies Championship. She also won the 1979 and 1983 provincial titles as skip, and the 1986 title, playing third for Colleen Jones. LaRocque won her only national title at the 1983 Scott Tournament of Hearts. Arleen Day
Arleen Marilyn Day (March 7, 1949 – September 4, 2012) was a Canadian curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. Day was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan as Arleen Fitzsimmons and grew up in Govan, Saskatchewan. She would later move to Regina to attend business college. She began curling at age 13. In 1982, she skipped her team of Shirley McKendry, Velva Squire and Dorthy Hepper to a provincial championship. At the 1982 Scott Tournament of Hearts, Day and her Saskatchewan rink finished the round robin in a 5-way tie for first place with a 7-3 record. The team beat Alberta's Cathy Shaw in a tie breaker match, but would lose in the semi-final to Nova Scotia's Colleen Jones. Day was involved in a car accident in 1984, where she injured her back, and by 1986 she could not continue her curling career, so she turned to officiating the sport. Sandra Jenkins
Sandra Jenkins (born July 20, 1961 in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta as Sandra Rippel) is a Canadian curler from Salmon Arm, British Columbia. Jenkins was the alternate player for the Canadian women's team at the 2006 Winter Olympics skipped by Shannon Kleibrink. Sandra got to play in a few games as some of the members of the team had been ill. Jenkins played second for Cathy Shaw at the 1982 and 1983 Scott Tournament of Hearts. The team lost in the final in 1983 to Penny LaRocque of Nova Scotia. In 1987 Jenkins was the third for Ken Ursuliak at the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship. Also in 1987 she was in the Olympic Trials playing for Marilyn Darte. She returned to the Scotts in 1989 as an alternate for Debbie Shermack. In 1993 she joined up with Shannon Kleibrink as her third at that year's Scott Tournament of Hearts. She would not play with Kleibrink again until the 2005 Canadian Olympic Trials.
