Cardiff Devils
The Cardiff Devils are a Welsh ice hockey team who play in the British Elite Ice Hockey League. The team play at Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff Bay. Cardiff are the reigning EIHL play-off champions, winning their third title in a row after beating the Belfast Giants 6–3 at the 2022 EIHL play-off Final. History Founded in 1986, the club became the dominant force in the sport in the late 1980s and early 1990s, winning a total of 7 league titles. Cardiff
Cardiff (; cy, Caerdydd ) is the capital and largest city of Wales. Ice Hockey Superleague
The British Ice Hockey Superleague (BISL, also known as the Sekonda Ice Hockey Superleague from 1998 to 1999 for sponsorship reasons) was a professional ice hockey league in the United Kingdom between 1996 and 2003. Devised in 1995, it replaced the premier division of the British Hockey League at the end of 1995–1996 season; following the major reshuffle of the league and the split between the first and second tier divisions; with the British National League becoming the new second tier division. It was disbanded after the 2002-03 season and replaced by the Elite Ice Hockey League. Brad Voth
Brad Voth (born February 25, 1980) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Career Voth played junior hockey with the Medicine Hat Tigers in the Western Hockey League from 1996 to 2001. In the 1998 NHL Entry Draft he was selected 157th overall in the 6th round by St. Louis Blues. He spent two season with the Blues organization, playing for their American Hockey League affiliate the Worcester IceCats and their ECHL affiliate the Peoria Rivermen. After being released by the Blues in 2003, Voth spent a further two seasons in the ECHL, spending the 2003-04 season with the Columbus Cottonmouths and the 2004-05 season with the Texas Wildcatters. In 2005, Voth moved to the United Kingdom and signed for the Cardiff Devils of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Ed Patterson
Edward Patterson (born November 14, 1972) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Patterson is currently the head coach of the Kamloops Storm of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League. Biography Patterson was born in Delta, British Columbia. As a youth, he played in the 1986 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with a minor ice hockey team from North Delta, British Columbia. He played three seasons of junior hockey in the Western Hockey League and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins. Player-coach
A player-coach (also playing coach, captain-coach, or player-manager) is a member of a sports team who simultaneously holds both playing and coaching duties. Rejean Stringer
Rejean Stringer (pronounced Ray-zhawn, Stron-zhay) (born August 21, 1974) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey forward who played most of his career in the ECHL. Early life and education Stringer was raised in Gravelbourg, Saskatchewan where he began playing hockey at a very young age in a backyard rink. Stringer left home in tenth grade to play for a team in a stronger league. He attended Merrimack College from 1995 to 1999. He led the team in goals scored in the 1996–97 season and led the team in overall scoring the next two years. In the 1997–98 season he also led the nation in assists. That year he scored seven points in Merrimack's upset series victory over top seed Boston University in the Hockey East playoffs. In 1999 he was named to the Hockey East All-Star team. Coventry
Coventry ( or ) is a city in the West Midlands, England. It is on the River Sherbourne. Challenge Cup (UK Ice Hockey)
The Challenge Cup, hosted annually by the Elite Ice Hockey League, is a cup competition for ice hockey clubs in the United Kingdom. It is one of three competitions run each season by the Elite League, the others being the league championship and the playoff championship. Prior to the formation of the Elite League in 2003, the Challenge Cup was organised by the Ice Hockey Superleague. First awarded during the 1997–98 season, the Challenge Cup has had numerous different formats depending on the number of teams participating and the format of other competitions run during a particular season. The first six finals were single games played at a pre-determined venue, and during the first eleven seasons of the Elite League finals were contested over two legs. Coventry Blaze are an ice hockey team based in Coventry, England. They currently compete in the British Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL) and play their home games at SkyDome Arena. The club was founded in 1965 as the ''Solihull Barons'' and renamed to ''Solihull Blaze'' in 1996. Cardiff Arena
The Cardiff Arena, also known as Cardiff Bay Ice Arena and also known by ice hockey fans as the Big Blue Tent, was a temporary ice rink in Cardiff Bay, Cardiff, Wales. It had a capacity of 2,500 for ice hockey and was home to the Cardiff Devils after leaving the Wales National Ice Rink which was being demolished to make way for a John Lewis store. It was also used for figure skating and hosted three competitions (in February 2009, 2011 and 2012). It was replaced as the home of the Cardiff Devils when they moved into the Ice Arena Wales. The Nottingham Panthers are a British professional ice hockey club based in Nottingham, England. They are members of the Elite Ice Hockey League. Their main team sponsor is the Nottingham Building Society. The Nottingham Panthers have won four league titles (two English National League titles, one British National League title and one Elite Ice Hockey League title), five Championships, six Autumn Cups and eight Challenge Cups during their history.
