Capital Football (New Zealand)
Capital Football is one of seven federations of New Zealand Football, representing the wider Wellington Region, including Hutt Valley, Wairarapa and Horowhenua-Kapiti. History Capital Football was first formed as Wellington Football Association (WFA) on 12 March 1890. Before the association was formed, teams had already been formed in Wellington, with the Wellington Rovers being the first formed on the 3 April 1889. The first game played under the English Football Association rules was played between two teams of Wellington Rovers players on the 6 April 1889. The first game between two clubs was played later that year on 8 June between the Rovers and the newly formed Petone Wanderers. The game was played at Wellington College with the Wanderers winning 2–0. Wellington
Wellington ( mi, Te Whanganui-a-Tara or ) is the capital city of New Zealand. It is located at the south-western tip of the North Island, between Cook Strait and the Remutaka Range. Wellington is the second-largest city in New Zealand by metro area, and is the administrative centre of the Wellington Region. It is the world's southernmost capital of a sovereign state. Central League (New Zealand)
The Central League is an amateur status league competition run by Capital Football for Association football clubs located in the southern and central parts of the North Island, New Zealand. From 2021 it is at the second level of New Zealand Football below the National League, which has replaced the national association based ISPS Handa Premiership. League history The premier league was initially set up as one of the three feeder leagues to the New Zealand National Soccer League in 1992, and continued in this form until being disbanded at the end of the 1999 season. Island Bay United
Island Bay United is a football club in the southern suburb of Island Bay in Wellington, New Zealand. The club was founded in 1931 as Wellington Technical College Old Boys. In 1966 the name was changed to Island Bay United. Island Bay United currently play in the Capital Premier League run by Capital Football. Wairarapa United
Wairarapa United is a Association football, football club based in Masterton, New Zealand and are currently competing in the Central Premier League, Central League. Club history The club was formed by the merger of Masterton (soccer), Masterton and Carterton in 1996. The club has competed in the Central Premier League, Central League since 2009. In Wairarapa's first season in the Central Premier League, Central League, the club finished sixth in the league. Wairarapa's highest finish in the league is third place which they placed in both 2010 and 2011. The club defeated four-time champions Napier Rovers 2–1 to win the Chatham Cup in 2011. Kapiti Coast United (KCU) is an association football club in New Zealand. Their home ground is Weka Park in Raumati Beach on the Kāpiti Coast. History Originally known as the Raumati Hearts, they formed in 1960 as a junior club then two years later added a senior club. Originally named after Heart of Midlothian, an Edinburgh soccer team commonly known as Hearts. Upper Hutt City Football is an association football club in Upper Hutt, Wellington which plays its home games at Maidstone Park. Upper Hutt City Football started as Upper Hutt United in 1926 and then alternative clubs were formed in the region through Tararua United in the 1970s and a women's club, Upper Valley Wanderers in the 1980s. In the late 1990s the three clubs agreed to amalgamate as Tararua Sports Club with their clubrooms and home ground based at Harcourt Park. At a meeting in 1998 it was agreed that the football teams would play as Upper Hutt City Soccer before they were renamed Upper Hutt City Football in 2011. After construction of an artificial surface pitch at Maidstone Park in 2011 it was decided in 2012 to move the clubrooms and home pitch to the park while still retaining Harcourt Park as its alternative home ground. Stop Out Sports Club
Stop Out Sports Club, commonly known as Stop Out, is an association football club in Lower Hutt, New Zealand is based at Hutt Park, Moera in Lower Hutt. History The Stop Out organisation started in 1919 with the aim of providing recreation to Te Aro Flat children in Wellington associated with the Wellington City Mission so as to prevent them becoming "stop outs" - period slang for "troubled youth". The club has been involved in a myriad of sports, including Boxing, Athletics and Softball; however, these days football is the heart and soul of the club. Despite the change of sporting-code focus, the club highly values the founding principles and continues to abide by them. Stokes Valley FC
Stokes Valley Football Club is an amateur football club based in Lower Hutt, New Zealand. The club was formed on the 7 March 1967 from a meeting at St. Phillip's Church Hall. After entering the local leagues in Division 6, the first team won promotion in the next seven of the clubs first nine years. From the 1970s through to 1993 the club bounced between Divisions one to three before they saw promotion to the top league Central League in 1994. They would spend three years in the division before pulling out in 1997 due to costs and lack of players. The club also competes in the Chatham Cup, New Zealand's premier knockout tournaments for men. The best run they have had in the competition is making the final sixteen twice. Petone FC is an association football club in Petone, New Zealand. The club provides football for men, women and children. The club's men's first team competes in the Central League with the women's first team competing in the Capital Football W-League. The club is based at Memorial Park in the Lower Hutt suburb of Petone. History and achievements The club is the successor for Petone United, a club founded in 1889 as Petone Wanderers before merging with the Wellington Rowing Club in 1892, competing under the name United until disbandment in 1895.
