The Capital Curling Classic is an annual bonspiel on the men's and women's Ontario Curling Tour. A bonspiel is a curling tournament, consisting of several games, often held on a weekend. Until the 20th century most bonspiels were held outdoors, on a frozen freshwater loch. Today almost all bonspiels are held indoors on specially prepared artificial ice. Michael Fournier
Michael "Mike" Fournier (born November 24, 1971) is a Canadian curler originally from Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. He currently skips his own team out of Toronto, Ontario. Career Fournier played in his first Quebec Tankard in 2014 at the 2014 Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship. His team reached the semifinal where they lost to eventual champions Jean-Michel Ménard. They made it one game further the following year at the 2015 Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship, losing in the final to the Ménard rink. Fournier won his first provincial championship at the 2018 WFG Tankard. His team qualified for the playoffs as the fourth seed and won three straight games to claim the provincial title. Lauren Horton
Lauren Horton (born July 21, 1995) is a Canadian curler from Pakenham, Ontario. Youth career Horton's Huntley Curling Club rink won the 2011 provincial bantam championship. This qualified her team to represent Ontario at the 2011 Canada Winter Games, where she would take home the bronze medal. She won the provincial junior mixed championship in 2014, throwing third stones for Ryan McCrady. While attending Carleton University, Horton won the 2014 CIS/CCA Curling Championships playing third for the Carleton Ravens team, skipped by Jamie Sinclair. The team represented Canada at the 2015 Winter Universiade, with Sinclair replaced by Breanne Meakin from the University of Manitoba (Sinclair had committed to curling for the United States at this point). Marie-France Larouche
Marie-France Larouche (born June 5, 1980 in Lévis, Quebec) is a Canadian curler, who currently skips her own team out of the Club de curling Etchemin in Saint-Romuald, Quebec. In 2022 she won the World Mixed Curling Championship playing third for skip Jean-Michel Ménard. Career Juniors Larouche made her first national debut at the 1995 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, where her team finished round robin with a first place record of 9-2. She would end up losing the semi-final to Ontario's Kirsten Harmark, claiming a bronze medal. Larouche would return to the championship again in 1996, where her team finish 7-5 in round robin, in a four-way tie for third. She would end up losing the tiebreaker to Ontario's Denna Schell. Rachel Homan
Rachel Catherine Homan (born April 5, 1989) is a Canadian international curler. Homan is a former Canadian junior champion, a three-time Canadian national champion, and the 2017 world champion, all as a skip. She was also the skip of the Canadian women's curling team at the 2018 Winter Olympics. During her junior career, Homan competed in two Canadian Junior Curling Championships, placing second in 2009 and winning the championship in 2010. She also won a silver medal at the 2010 World Junior Curling Championships. Jennifer Ann Hanna (born January 22, 1980) is a Canadian curler from Nepean, Ontario. She curls out of the Ottawa Curling Club. She was a finalist in both the 1998 Canadian Junior Curling Championship and the . Career Early competitive career Hanna competed at the 1998 Canadian Juniors, losing in the final to New Brunswick's Melissa McClure. Vincent Roberge (born December 16, 1997) is a Canadian curler from Lévis, Quebec. Career Roberge won his first Quebec Junior Curling Championship in 2017, skipping his team of Julien Tremblay, Étienne Elmaleh and Fabien Roberge. This qualified them for the 2017 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, held January 21–29 in Esquimalt, British Columbia. At the championship, Roberge's team just missed qualifying for the championship pool, finishing the round robin with a 2–4 record. Alek Bédard (born December 12, 1996) is a Canadian curler from Lacolle, Quebec. He currently skips his own team out of Montreal, Quebec. Career Bédard won his first Quebec Junior Curling Championship in 2018, skipping his team of Louis Quevillon, Émile Asselin and Bradley Lequin. This qualified them for the 2018 Canadian Junior Curling Championships, held January 13–21 in Shawinigan, Quebec. At the championship, Bédard led his team to a 4–2 round robin record, which was enough to qualify them for the championship pool. Gregory Balsdon (born October 9, 1977) is a Canadian curler from North York, Ontario. He currently skips a team on the World Curling Tour. Curling career Balsdon was born in Toronto, Ontario. In 1995, Balsdon won the Ontario Schoolboy championship for his Don Mills Collegiate Institute team. In 1996, he won the provincial junior mixed title. Balsdon skips one of the top teams in Ontario. As of 2019, Balsdon has played in 13 provincial championships. He first played at the provincials in 1999, playing for John Base (4th place). He left the Base rink in 2000 to form his own team. Jason Camm
Jason Camm (born November 3, 1994) is a Canadian curler from Rockland, Ontario. He currently plays lead on Team John Epping. Career Juniors In 2011, Camm won both the Ontario Bantam Boys Championship and the Ontario Bantam Mixed Championship, both as a skip. After Bantams, Camm formed a junior team with Aaron Squires as skip, and Camm throwing last rocks. The team won the 2013 Ontario Junior Championships and earned the right to represent the province at the 2013 Canadian Junior Curling Championships. The team finished the event with a 7-3 record, tied with Manitoba's Matt Dunstone in third place. The two teams played in each other in a tiebreaker for a playoff spot, with Camm and Team Ontario losing 11-8.
