Canadians (basketball Club)
Canadians, formerly known as BV Landlust, was a Dutch basketball club from Amsterdam. The team was one of the original twelve teams in the Eredivisie. The team was founded in 1952 and played in the Eredivisie for 42 seasons. History Landlust was founded in 1951 and remained until 1992–93 season in the Premier League, with the exception of the 1972–73 season. The club from Amsterdam is third with 32 seasons in the league, after Den Bosch (40) and Donar (38). Landlust played until 1972 without sponsor. On return to the Premier League in 1973–74, adopted for sponsorship reasons the name ''Delta Lloyd Amsterdam'', a name that remained for eight years. In 1981, Black Velvet Rose sponsor baton and was named ''Black Velvet Canadians''. In 1986 Sportlife sponsor but the name remained Canadians: ''Sports Life Canadians''. Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. The league began in 1960 as the ''Eredivisie'' and was organized by the NBB and later the FEB. In 1977 the league introduced play-offs. As of 2019, the Dutch Basketball League consists of ten teams and plays under the FIBA rules. Heroes Den Bosch is a Dutch professional basketball club based in 's-Hertogenbosch. The club plays in the BNXT League since 2021 and in the top basketball division in the Netherlands since 1972. Founded as EBBC in 1951, the club had several sponsored names the following decades. Den Bosch has won a record seventeen Dutch championships, seven Dutch Cup and two Dutch Supercup titles. Donar, also known as Donar Groningen, is a professional basketball club based in Groningen, Netherlands. The club competes in the BNXT League and its home arena is MartiniPlaza, which has a seating capacity of 4,350 people. Donar is one of the traditional first division clubs along with Den Bosch, as it entered the league years ago. The club won the national DBL championship seven times; in 1982, 2004, 2010, 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018. Donar was runner-up in the seasons: 1998, 2006, 2011, 2015. Vrouwen Basketball League
The Women's Basketball League (WBL) is the highest level of women's basketball in the Netherlands. The first season was played in 1949. Blue Stars is the record titleholder of the league with 20 championships. As of 2021, the league consists of nine teams. History From its establishment, the league was known as "Eredivisie". In 2019, the league name was changed from Vrouwen Basketball League (VBL) to Women's Basketball League (WBL). The Dutch Basketball League Most Valuable Player Award is an annual award given to the most valuable player in the Dutch highest professional basketball league. Doug Spradley
Douglas "Doug" Spradley (born September 14, 1966) is an American-German professional basketball coach and former professional basketball player. He is the current head coach of ZZ Leiden. Playing career Spradley played college basketball at Gonzaga University (1986–89), where he earned West Coast Conference First team honors in 1987-88 and 1988-89 as well as Honorable Mention status in 1986-87. He amassed 1,427 points during his GU career and became a member of Gonzaga's 40 Point Club after scoring 40 points against Loyola Marymount on February 18, 1989. Coming out of college in 1989, Spradley signed with the Amsterdam Canadians, a professional basketball team from the Netherlands.
