The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang C151B is the fifth generation electric multiple unit rolling stock in operation on the North South and East West lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) & CRRC Qingdao Sifang under Contract 151B. 45 trains were purchased and all of them have been delivered to Singapore as of 12 April 2017. SMRT took delivery of the first 2 train cars on 21 May 2015. These trains increased frequency for the two MRT lines, North South line and East West line. Majority of these trains operate on the North South line, with a few operating on the East West line. These trains retain the same IGBT-VVVF traction equipment found on the earlier C751B and C151A sets, also featuring SMRT's "Pixels" livery introduced on the Bukit Panjang LRT C801A. North South MRT Line
The North-South line (NSL) is a high-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line in Singapore, operated by SMRT Corporation. Coloured red on the Singapore rail map, the line is long and serves 27 stations, 11 of which, between the Bishan and Marina South Pier stations, are underground. It runs from Jurong East station, located in Western Singapore, to Marina South Pier station in the Central Area, via Woodlands station in northern Singapore. The line operates for 19 hours a day (from approximately 5:30 am to around midnight), with headways of up to 2 to 3 minutes during peak hours and 5 to 8 minutes during off-peak hours. East West MRT Line
The East West line (EWL) is a high-capacity Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) line operated by SMRT in Singapore, running from Pasir Ris station in the east to Tuas Link station in the west, with an additional branch between Changi Airport and Tanah Merah stations. It is the second Mass Rapid Transit line to be built in Singapore. The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CSR Qingdao Sifang C151A is the fourth generation electric multiple unit rolling stock in operation on the North South and East West lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) and CRRC Qingdao Sifang under Contract 151A. Their introduction to the network has increased the capacity of both lines by 15%. They are the last batch of rolling stock on the two lines to be painted in the "Blackbird" livery. Developed from the KNS C751B sets, further developments of the type include the C151B and C151C featuring design updates and changes. Bishan Depot
Bishan Depot is a depot located on the Mass Rapid Transit in Bishan, Singapore. It was completed in 1987 by American architect Vikas M. Gore and the 12,000 square metres maintenance area at cost of S$300 million. The depot comprises a storage yard with a capacity of 59 trains and has an area of 300,000 m2. The depot also houses a central maintenance facility with train overhaul facilities for trains on the North South line operated by SMRT. Bishan depot previously provided maintenance work for the East West line too, prior to the opening of the Tuas Depot. The Kawasaki Heavy Industries & Nippon Sharyo C751B is the third generation electric multiple unit rolling stock in operation on the North South and East West lines of Singapore's Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system since early 2000, manufactured by Kawasaki Heavy Industries & Nippon Sharyo (KNS) under Contract 751B. 21 trainsets of 6 cars each were purchased at S$231 million, and it is the first rolling stock to feature VVVF insulated-gate bipolar transistor traction control system. Kawasaki manufactured 66 cars and Nippon Sharyo manufactured 60 cars respectively with no comparable differences, having built to agreed specifications. Changi Depot is located in Changi near Koh Sek Lim Road, Singapore. Changi Depot comprises a train yard, which can hold a capacity of 46 trains and has an area of 250,000 square metres. Ulu Pandan Depot (Simplified Chinese: 乌鲁班丹车厂; Traditional Chinese: 烏魯班丹車廠) is a depot near Jurong East, Singapore and it serves the trains on the North South line and the East West line. Tuas Depot is an MRT depot serving the East West Line, located between Tuas West Road and Tuas West Drive in Singapore. It was constructed by Jurong Primewide Pte Ltd at a contract sum of S$237.1 million. Construction of the depot together with the four stations of the Tuas West Extension started in late 2011 and were fully operational on 18 June 2017.
